I am curious as to how the splicing in the shaft will effect the resonance and feel of the cue.
junksecret said:There are no splices, they are all inlays...as for how it will feel, I don't know yet the cue is still be made but I have played with gina's with inlay work in the shaft and they have all felt fantastic.

ibuycues said:Hi Bill,
This is Will Prout. I purchased the first cue made when Ernie started back. My cue is # 88-00120 . Ernie sent me pictures of him and his wife with the cue when he was finishing the cue, and when they took the cue to Hardtimes/Bellflower where it it was presented to a tournament champion, who happened to be Jay Swanson. He had just beaten Kim Davenport. I also have pictures of Ernie and his wife presenting the cue to Jay, as well as several other photos taken at that time.
The cue has 8 ebony points into a birdseye forearm, and has a fancy buttsleeve. The cue presented to Swanson also has silver plates in the buttsleeve to be used for engraving. Both of my original shafts also have the #88-00120 along with "Ginacue" on them. The pictures show the cue being presented to Swanson along with a leather case (that has the Ginacue logo on the endcap) which I also acquired with the cue several years ago.
The cue was acquired in 1988 by a fellow from Germany named Dieter Kroll, who owned the cue until 2005 when I purchased the cue on Christmas day. Ernie remembers Dieter Kroll also, as he called Ernie several times throughout the years. The cue is in outstanding original condition, as are both shafts and the case. I also have a detailed letter from Dieter Kroll regarding the cue.
I have had the cue on display at the last couple of ICCS shows. You are right, the cue is a GREAT collectible cue, and I am glad I own it. I am currently looking to trade it. For a corvette. Heh, heh, heh.....

Thanks for the note. I am very pleased with the cue. Sorry you did not get it, but I am glad I did! By the way, you have shown us on AZ some absolutely Gorgeous, fancy cues in the past year, so I know you have several you are very pleased with.
Take care,
Will
junksecret said:I'm having a new cue made for me by Ernie and although so far only the shafts are made, I thought some of you might like a peek. It's the blue one in the pics. The colors will be much brighter when the finish is applied. I expect the butt to begin in the next few weeks and I'll post some pics if anyone wants to see. It should be very unique....WAY off the catalog. I get a new Gina every 40 years whether I need it or not.

Does anyone have an emailable version of their catalog? Send me a p.m. Thanks---
jazznpool said:Very nice flair on the shafts. I assume some of the motif is carried on to the cue somehow. Will it have a wrap? If you're going black leather, go for the elephant ear. It has a terrific hand to it and looks great.

Thanks for the pictures of your cue. I love Ginacues, and yours is one of the very best and most individual in looks that I have seen.
Take care,
