That piece of maple is 25 to 30 years old
I use the standard 29" shafts. I shoot with an OB2. It hits awesome!
How can you tell how old the wood is ? I always been trying to figure that out for my self.
The person I found this Maple from cut the tree and had it milled many years ago.

By the way the maple was cut, it would appear that you can just count the rings to get an estimate of the age. It's a beautiful piece of maple. Well.. the whole cue is stunning! I have a friend that is 6'4" and I've been trying to talk him into an 'oversized' cue. I bet it makes a world of difference.

Have you ordered a new case too?
Not yet. I'm thinking about a custom Whitten Case. Unless someone has a more economical solution in mind.
Personally I feel that my game has improved since I have a cue that fits me.

You're abolutely right. I'm 6'4'' and my cue is 61''. It feels much more comfortable as normal size.

I've got the case from Dynamic. My cue fits exactly, but its a little bit shorter as yours. I'm afraid, you won't find anything cheap.
