Custom Players Under 1300

You can get a very good cue for half that, use the rest for a good break cue, jump cue and a very nice case. Then you are all set! just need to improve your game.

For $1300.00 you can get a good cue from almost all the well known cue makers and it will be a quality cue. Jerry R will make you a Full Slice Hoopie for that price and deliver it in 4-6 months. 2 other cue makers you may consider that arent well known but that I am happy with are John Bender and Dmitry Komarov aka DBK cues. I have cues from all 3 of these gentleman and have no reservation as to recommending them. Spending more money on a cue won't make you play any better.

I actually have a personal player that will be hard to pry away from me. But I do enjoy collecting and hitting different cues. My most recent purchase was a Mike Stacey. It's hard to tell what I think of it at this point. It has a solid hit but they shafts are a solid half mm to thick for my small hands, they are 13.2.

I'd like to pick up a Bluegrass or Sugartree next. Time to start saving again.

I dont know how much longer Carolina Customs will be in the cue business.
From what I have heard they are making more money in an other type of work

Well this is disheartening. As I was on the completely wrong end of the spectrum on that. I thought they were really starting to come into the higher end of the cue making business. so many positive reviews on them. I had one made. cost a good amount to. I actually had to send it back though they put on the wrong tips and the wrap wasn't perfect so they are fixing it. Looks amazing. but, having a hard time adjusting to the ivory joint/ferrrels. they are making me a matching Z2 shaft with it just incase I can't adapt.

Kinda bummed if they fold.

Not to high jack the thread. but how do you all feel about Stacey, Nitti, and Carmeli? I have a Carmeli and Love it. but, looking to have another cue made and those are my 3 choices. My Team captain shoot a Nitti I'm gonna check it out a little more on Weds. but, I really like his work. Stacey makes a nice cue as well. Coker is another I just thought of. I may consider them as well.

Hello everyone... I am pretty new to the custom cue game and looking for some advice. I am also fairly new, about 3 years, to playing pool seriously. Since I started, I have been so intriqued by building techniques and everything that goes into a custom, probably the engineer coming out in me.

I started with a McDermott, now my player is a Pechauer (have a few) with a Z2 shaft. Love the combo. I also have an Adams Bushka cue I won in a cheap APA raffle, actually a decent hitting cue.

Right now being pretty young, I cant afford to spend thousands on cues, but have began doing research on all of the different customs. My question now is what are your opinion on good custom players under 1300?

I've kind of started my list with:

Bob Frey Sneaky
Zinzola (maybe a simpler one)
Carolina Customs

Just looking for suggestions as I venture into the world of customs. thanks in advance.

Talk to my friend actioncentral. he has a nitti for sale that plays amazing. the cue feels like a cue should feel. balanced great with a real firm hit to it

Keith Josey

Nobody yet has mentioned Keith Josey's work so I'll do so now.

I've been shooting pool now for a solid six years and in that time I've bought 15 different cues. Out of those fifteen different cues the only two cue makers that really stood out are Dan Dishaw and Keith Josey. Performance wise they're both high class playing cues however Dan's work is usually over the 1200 mark. Definitely worth it if you have the cash. With that being said Keith Josey's work is in your price range and his cues sincerely perform with the best of them. He does top notch work with flawless customer service. I had Keith make me a cue and I'm literally (never) getting rid of it. If you havn't already found a cue maker do yourself a favor and check out his work.

Anthony,

Bryan Mordt Cues

I would look into getting a Bryan Mordt cue: www.bcmcue.com

I have had Franklin Southwest, Scruggs and Mike Bender cues and I think the Bryans Cues are very good. I currently have two of these cues. You can find them with two shafts used for about $600.00. If you have him make you one it takes about 5-6 months and the price is similar (maybe a little more depending upon what you want). Great cue for the money!!!
