Custom Pool Room

Overall this has become the most informative thread ever on AZB. Great ideas for home rooms and for pool rooms. I wish they would make this a sticky to make it easier to find. Great room!

I just spent at least an hour going page after page. I am truly awe struck with your craftmanship and eye for detail. That room has to be every pool players dream room!

This has been one of my absolute favorite threads on AZ.

I'm planning on building a pool room/house with upstairs living quarters (I'm a bachelor)and this thread will become a foundation for many things that I do on the project.

Yet another 2 thumbs up for you, Dan.

BTW, if you can get Scott in there to work with the kids, they could really turn out to be great players. Just think........access to a nice pool room. Great, professional instruction. A father with common sense, discipline and a strong work ethic.

Wait. Scratch the last part. They'll never be pool players! Lol. :D

New lights

Well I'm experimenting with new lights. The previous ones I built lit up great! but they lit the whole room more than I liked. So I designed some new ones to direct the light mostly on the tables. I used 2 T-8 bulbs and I like the more compact design. They really darken the room and work great. I may continue to design a more wider light to really get the fell I'm looking for. I think I'm getting close.

I still need one more coat of stain and then need to apply several caots of polyurethane.

I post more pics once I'm done.

I really think a Diamond style diffuser will help you achieve the lighting effect that you're after. Regardless, I expect you'll nail it (pun intended).

How is your Dad doing now?

Thanks for the new Pics, last pics were of the mount you built for the flat screen, but you said you forgot to take pics of it after it was installed, can you get a pic and let us see? and the new lights when you get them hung up?

You've spoiled us, we not only want to see the process, but the finished installation too! LOL

What's the reason that the T-8 bulb is used so frequently for pool lights? Not much of a "bulb" guy but hopefully someone will know this??

You are a great talent.

All I can say is that you did the Damn Thang! That is one gorgeous pool room and deserves to be shown in some magazine.

New Years Bump

Happy New Year Dan & all AZ'ers

Maybe for 2013 we can get AZB to make this thread a 'Sticky', then we can all find it with out too much problem.

This should actually be a "Hall of Fame" thread!!!!

Where are you going to hang the Dart Board?

Funny thing you ask, I just received one as a gift. Unfortunately it won't be going up. I had one as a kid and all I remember was having a wall full of holes from floor to ceiling. My aim hasn't improved since I was kid so I don't think it will be going up anytime soon.

Dan...I think you and I probably play even at darts! I had to laugh out loud at the "wall full of holes" comment! I'm coming back to S. TX in Feb., so hopefully we can work it out to meet this time! What a fine poolroom!

He's doing good thnx for asking. You're right I didn't post pics. Well here are some after I hung the 42" TV. Also my wife wanted a leather Sectional for the room and I have to say it really is great to have something comfortable to lounge around on. We are really enjoying the room!

Here are pics of the new lights I built. The T-8 bulbs really make a difference. I also like the more smaller light design. When Im shooting pool they dont block the view of the TV as much. Also I've gotten psoitive feed back from friends saying how the other lights gave off to much glare and affected their game. As for these everyone seems to like them.
