I have a customer interested in a beutiful tulip cue only she wants a pink linen wrap on it. As far as I can tell, there is no supplier for this color. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks, Jimbo.

Forget the wrap

Forget the wrap and put in pink ivory. May cost a little (a lot?) more.

I can't see how pink would harmonize with Tulipwood. The Tulipwood I've seen is predominantly orange. If you gotta have pink, you could try Rit fabric dye with white linen.

they both look reddish and that's about it, but i think one can't tell until one actually sees the two together. tulipwood is an inconsistant color. i've seen some good but mostly bad. same with pink ivory.

i would suggest dyeing a white linen if it can be done.
mauve is not pink, and will look more blueish on a cue like that. end of story.

here's a thought. they DO make pink veneers.

so inlay the pink veneers into holly or a very light fiddlebak maple grip, slice 'em and stagger 'em to your/her particular pattern. you can get as cutesy as you want,,,,,maybe checkerboard-style,,,maybe swirly-style....or howz about trying to emulate the scattered swirl of real linen!!!!!

painstakingly time-consuming, however.

My Tulip is rose in color<no pun intended>
Could you possibly be thinking of Paduk - def orange-ish.

if they have to have pink why not buy a single spool of white linen and dye it with some rite dye. at least that way they can pick out the exact color of pink they want.

I'm not thinking of Padauk. I've looked at a good deal of Tulipwood partial logs and squares. I have some too. I realize there is some range in color, but the better stuff has more uniform color that I would describe as mostly orange or red-orange. A true pink wouldn't be a good choice for a wrap from a color harmony standpoint, IMO. If the cue was made from a watermelon colored pink ivory, then pink might look pretty cool...but not on my cue:D

while i cannot condone putting a pink wrap on a pool cue.i will say that the better Tulip Wood seems to be the dark pink to red to puple looking wood.the orange and light colored Tulips seem to be widespread.

Jimbo,

Forget the Linen, and call Brianna Products they had pink leather for sale at the Hopkins show :) HOT PINK!

Thanks for all of the replies. There is a goof bit of pink in this tulip. I would prefer to use the pink leather though the cost will shoot up the cost of the cue. If it where going to stay in my collection I would use a light tan colored leather or even natural stacked. If the costomer wants a pink linen then dye would be the way to go. By the way, when I make the next one, I have a pink ivory ready to go as a handle. I have at least three girls that want a cue with pink in it. The first chose the tulip over the pink ivory.

thanks, Jimbo.
