Olhausen table the pockets are too tight for these old birds. They want a change to 5 inch pockets. So, how is it done? Would it be cheaper for them to just trade that table in, and get something else?

Maybe they want bigger pockets because balls that should go down keep rattling out in the jaws?

In that case, fixing the facings with harder rubber is supposed to help that.

what thickness are the facings?

Since none of the pros like to answer

I'll say that if it was me I would just remove the rails, cloth and facings and formulate a plan with my chop saw based on what my eye's showed me. Make the angle closer to 45 degrees and you won't have to increase the opening that much to have sucess. If you do this you can cut material from the back of the pocket opening right out to the outside points and the table will be much more forgiving. You can do all this without probably having to buy anything. I can draw a sketch if you can't understand my ramblings.

I tend to agree with Berko. Do they want bigger pockets, or easier pockets? Easier pockets might just mean correcting the "Olhausen Rattle".

Pocket shelf

Fixing the death rattle is an option or if you want to get dusty you can grind the slate off. This allows the balls to drop easier once they are in the throat of the pocket and you may not need to adjust the angles.

We used to do this method years ago at the old pool halls. It made the games go quicker because in those old time rooms you payed by the game and not the hour.

Thanks for helping guys. I called a very old friend of mine Fred Schmidt. Come to find out he put the table in so we came to a very nice agreement.

Thanks again.

Olhausen pockets are 5" from factory. They are all made on a jig. They are north of you in Portland, TN it would be a good tour.
