Customize a Schon?

Anyone who's ordered a new Schon, how easy is it to customize? Do they do things like wrapless cues from the STL line, custom wood and stain choices, etc? They list their cues as 19-21 ounces, can you order one at 18.5?

I know they operate a small shop, and only produce a limited number of cues. Do they do that kind of stuff, or is it more of a "buy what's closest to what you like" sort of deal?

Thanks in advance for the info!

You know..I have never heard of a "custom order" Schon.

I belive it is a find one close to what you like....and then customize it.

Schon does make some wrapless models...I know a guy that has a VERY nice one.

Buy one you like that's already made! I have a Tulipwood Elite for sale at a VERY good price. 2 Shafts

I waited 1.5 yrs for one from Schon and never got it. I finally bought the Elite from Joe Salazar.

The only wrapless cue from the STL line I know of was called the STL-21. I'm not sure how long ago it was made, or for how long, but there's a few still floating around that are still new.

As far as custom orders go, not really. I once sent an email to Schon asking if it was possible to get a cue from their STL line with a couple small modifications to it. I never even got a reply.

Their cues are made differently, though. Even two cues of the same model will look different, sometimes just different shades of wood, other times they'll have different veneer or inlay colors. What you can do is contact a schon dealer, see what they have in stock and see if they have anything that fits what you like, like say an STL-2 with darker BEM, for example.

Otherwise, you're left either customizing what you get or finding a used model that you like. Thankfully there are many, many models of schons out there, especially LTD and Elite, from which you can choose.

I have two Schons. The first one is an STL-1 that I customized--had a black buttcap put on in place of the ugly off-white one and stack leather wrap to replace the irish linen. I also got matching custom JPs. The second one is an LTD 1123 (wrapless) that I just got apparently used but it looked brand spanking new from Bestkites.

Let me know what you want in a cue and i will work with Evan to get it done. i have sold several customs with my or my customers design. I will also get you a great price. The wait time will be 14-18 weeks for a custom order. Or check out my link to the available Schon cues I have for sale. If you like any of them I can make you a great deal on one.

This is such a idiotic question. Call Schon and ask them. Why would you want a answer from the people on this forum? It won't hold any water. Get the answer from Schon.

Well, myself and a couple other people I know haven't had much luck getting custom work done by Schon directly. But if Troy has Evan's ear and says he can get custom work done, then I believe it. OP should talk to Troy.

> Yes,Evan will do a wrapless, from current models or as he calls it,a "one-sie",or one of a kind cue,you just have to catch him in the right mood so to speak. He's always told me he'll do whatever a customer wants within reason,as long as they're willing to pay for it. Just don't expect him to make a Gina copy,or one that hits like a SW. Tommy D.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The more info I can get the better. I tried contacting Schon, but I hadn't gotten a reply, so I figured I could get an answer here...and what do you know? :)

Troy, that sounds great! I'll send you a PM in a minute.

Rocket345...That STL-1 is a nice looking cue. Who did the customization work? Did it come with that dark stain? Most of the pictures I've seen of STL-1's are the lighter, natural look.

Thanks again everybody!

I figured that. I like the Schon hit, so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks!

What, the LTD is a pile of crap??? :D

Ryan at Mueller's did the stack wrap and the buttcap (ratcues I think is his SN). Fast, quality work. The JPs were done by Steve Kornele.

Yes, the STL-1 came in that exact darker shade. I just ordered an STL-1 and that's what I got. I like it a lot, for the reason you said--it stands out a bit since most others are lighter.

Custom?

I ordered 6 cues from Evan. 1 simple custom. I asked for white wrap with red speckles. He said he wouldn't do that. I said no problem, I can get someone to put one on later. He said, NO. He didnt want anyone else working on his cues! LMAO. I cancelled all 6 after waiting over a year.
