Hey Tom,
It is better to take a router table with 45 deg cutter and make the square an octogon first. Less stress on beaings that way.
personnally, CNC just to turn square to round is a waste. A better test, IMO, would be to show cutting points into a forearm, or cutting shafts from start to finish. Those will show the abilities/repeatability of the CNC aspect of this lathe in a more usefull way.
Just a thought.

I've looked at these things before. They look super tough. Simple, too. It doesn't look weathered or beat up, and at a glance seems complete. I've seen them for $2500 or so, occasionally less. But here it is, at a really cheap price. I'll bet I can get it up and running. If not, feel free to laugh.
Edit: What makes the deal for me is that the machine is in my regular territory and I can pick it up myself....no shipping charge is good!
