cyclop vs aramith balls

I had a chance to play with the cyclop balls while in a tourney last weekend. Compared to the aramiths I couldn't tell a difference. But the owner of the supply store seems to think there is a big difference on how they play. Just wondering if anyone has played with both and could tell the difference. The set we played the tourney with looked like the refreshed version of the cyclop.

Do a Search in the Main forum area, you'll find this subject of balls was beat to death this past thirty days.
 
Half the people that talk about these balls don't know a skid from bad aim because they're so use to hitting the rail around the pocket. Enough about Cyclop Balls. There is so little difference that only a top pro knows for sure...and sometimes I wonder about that. Johnnyt

So, I got a set a couple years ago after playing in the US One Pocket Open in Vegas.

When I got home, I played with them one afternoon, thought they were nice, and put them in the closet. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and with the DCC coming up where they'll be using the Cyclop balls, I pull them out of the closet to practice. Here's what I think:

Because they are harder and more polished than Aramiths you may find that they roll a bit further than you expect. Also, my personal observation, after playing with them for the last two weeks, is that for the same reasons, they throw less.

Other than that, I really like them and will probably use them as my regular set. They come apart real nice when playing 14.1.

It's advisable for anyone that's going to DCC to use them as much as possible

I believe this is an accurate evaluation, I played a gambling match not long ago and had the same experience. It's advisable for anyone that's going to DCC to use them as much as possible the next couple of weeks to get used to the differences......or face the consequences of inconsistency.

Cylcop Balls have "different contact points"

I heard a Pro player say the Cylcop Balls have "different contact points" this conclusion was probably derived from the unique way the balls throw.

It's a huge "home court advantage" to use these balls against someone that's not used to them.

I would agree. You must especially adjust on combinations.

I hope I never grow up, it's fun to represent 5th graders in an attempt to protect them from the "evil adults," who discourage them from pursuing their dreams. I've been around my share of these "doomsayers," and they're stuck in the prison of mediocrity.

My high school principle took me into his office and ask me "what I was going to do with my life," and I responded "I want to be a professional pool player like Steve Mizerak!"

He snickered and said "yeah, right, what if you get an eye put out, then what would you do? You need to go to college and get a job like everyone else".

"What would you do if YOU got an eye put out - that's why God gave me two, so I'd have a spare one to play pool with".

It's funny how so called "grown ups" want to spoil dreams for us young, innocent children. Don't they "real eyes" that dreams are the foundation for the world's greatest discoveries and accomplishments - why try to take away our most valuable quality?

If there's any other 5th graders reading this, let me give you some experienced advice "don't ever let someone talk you out of your dreams that have throw their's away - enjoy risk, and let the game of life be your teacher".

It's always sad when so soooooooooo many threads turn out in a pissing match or whatever ''they'' want to call it. There's so much conflict in the world nowadays, the threads here at times are Very similar. I breeze thru many because they are littered with such negativity and ''personal opinions'' that take sides, like those warlords in the caves of the middle east and wherever. Or those who's religion or political views don't ''jive'' with yours.

Wish many here would just take a chill pill or like Donald Sutherland said years ago as a tank commander in a comedy war movie with Don Rickles and others ''quit with the negative waves''.

We get no where with CONSTANT conflict, cept into another one.
Just think how great it would be to come here every day and be happy and not Negative, or wanting to jump on another for something as simple as a misspelled word, which is no different than miss interpretation ones meaning and then attacking another. We all think of the same thing completely different when given a picture.

I think many of us were not raised to treat others this way, but it perpetuates, and makes those that care about the sport, but keep forgetting that and ''just want to be right'' all the time.

The game will out live us all, and is more important than any one of us here, time has proven that.

there are a couple of videos of matches showing the Cyclop cue ball rolling weird.
