I was just wondering, as other may be. Does Dale Perry obtain any of his work or partial construction from outside sources. On Ebay, you can buy a DP for less than popular China Made Cues. Wondering how he can make a custom cue in a shop and sell a complete cue on ebay for $132.00-$150. Costing Less than popular Chinese Imports. Less than mass produced Meuccis (partial import) and even import Meducci.

Any thoughts?

Today I spoke with someone that tried to get DP to do work on his cue but he wouldn't because it was "Chinese made", so if he is true to his word and not a hypocrite then China can be ruled out as a source of his cues.

Dale builds his cues and sells them to the public. No middle man. The Chinese cues are built overseas for a profit, an importer brings them into the country paying the shipping, The importer now sells them, at a profit once again to a dealer and once again there is shipping expenses, now the dealer sells them to a customer at a large profit. The final customer is paying for each of these middle men expenses and profits. So, now we have a Chinese cue that was probably produced for less than 20.00 selling to the final buyer for a few hundred. It costs Dale more to build a cue than the Asians as his labor costs are higher but the final price can be kept lower as his cue is not making profits for all of those middlemen.

This makes sense.
So would a DP made here and costs $150 be a better quality cue then a Chinese cue costing the same? I did say quality not playability which is subjective.

I have one of his cues

Plays great..in fact, for the price, i would say it cant be beat!!! However i have nicer/better hitting cues, but not at 150!!

They are American made, as far as I know. And for the money, they cannot be beat. Put one against any $200- cue anywhere. I don't know how he does it. I have that much in material costs for my cues, but he manages to make it happen & it works for him.

Ummm, yes

This makes sense.

I would say yes by far. I've owned a DP for around a year. I too saw it on Ebay and it was such a pretty cue, I have not seen one like it since, a little more intricate inlays and I picked it up for $350. I like to buy lower priced cues to play with in bars or tourneys so I dont have to drag out my good cue and then have to worry about it every time I take a piss. So I used if for a year, then sold it to a friend for same price. It played nice. No complaints. Most cues play the same to me anyway once you get into something of quality.. I"m sure I could close my eyes and I wouldn't know the difference between my Spain, or a Cognesenti or a even DP, IMHO.
Mechanics and other skills are far more important. I was called late to sub Thursday and didn't have time to grab my case, so I played with anyones cue that was not also playing, sometimes changing in mid game. Granted, they were Schon, Schuler, Joss and Jacoby that my teamates have but it didn't make much difference to me, as I always grabberd the one with the best looking tip and if he was up on another table I would go to 2nd best tip.
