What's the deal with Dale Perry cues? Do these play well? I've seen these go for all types of prices and I know since he started selling them on eBay the value may have gone down. I seen one go for $123 on eBAy and it looked great. So it's a bit confusing.

They aren't worth much due to his flooding the market with his Ebay sales but I owned one long ago. It played fine. They can be had relatively cheap so if u buy one, know it won't fetch much return...so I hope u like it enough to continue playing it. Good luck

I have 2 of them that I bought several years ago when I first returned to playing again after 30 year absence. Both played very well. The one I have in Oregon is in perfect condition and the one I have in my snowbird place in Arizona has had some shrinkage (very low humidity and high heat in the summers) and the silver rings stick out at the butt which has damaged the finish at these rings. The rings are a bit sharp as well. I have thought about having a local cuemaker turn these 2 rings down and touch up the finish at this location but since I hardly use these cues anymore its a back burner priority. Both f these cues are nice looking cues. Excellent curly maple and cocabola on the Az cue and nice rosewood and curly maple on the one in Oregon. The make great players which you can take to a bar and not worry about damaging.

I have had 3 DP cues over the years in the past (that were all from his ebay auctions), and I was not happy with the hit of any of them. For one thing, he does not put a good taper on his shafts. It is a really lousy taper in my opinion. I would imagine that any decent player that is used to playing with any type of decent hitting cue (like a Joss for example) will not be happy with the hit of his cues. I have also read on other reads here on AZ that they are very poorly constructed (poorly built). By the way, this thread belongs in the Main section on here, or maybe in the Cue reviews section of the forum. Sorry for the bump, and sorry about my bad opinion about DP cues. I will delete this reply if I have broke any forum rule for talking bad about DP cues in the For Sale section, so please send me a PM if I have done so. I will say that I love the looks of DP cues, but I would not want to pay much for one. A Players cue is a better hitting cue then a DP cue (in my opinion). If you do get one, then I would advise that you buy a 2nd shaft for it (that is made by a good cue maker, like maybe an OB shaft for example).

The DP cues on eBay play great.

You will get a good cue. It will be straight and it will play fine. They are worth the money they sell for but don't expect to make any profit on one because everybody knows what they are selling for. I have had several and they were all good cues.

Won't comment on DP cues. It's already been said. Buy a nice sneaky from a quality cue maker and be done with it. It's the hit that's important. Fancy never made anyone play better. There was a sly sneaky on here a couple days ago. Now that's a good couple hundred well spent.

Tap tap tap Seaglass is on the money! Your money will be better spent on a Sly sneaky. He had three that will be ready in a couple months. PM me if you want to get in touch with him.

bought one 2 yrs ago off ebay.Plays great. Not going to hold the value like the old dp cues that were made.It was supposed to come with a stage IV shaft but received a regular shaft(don't ask me the difference,I couldn't tell you).I called and guess what?I talked to dale personally.I sent $50 and he sent my stage 4 shaft.IMO the regular shaft plays better.Seems more solid.

DP in the beginning was a quality cue, Now all the DP cues made are made with cheap materials and thrown together.

Here is one that was made in the early years, before he went crazy. It was custom made for $2500. Snakewood and Ebony. I won't mention the white stuff, lol.

How can they not be great???... they are made in Florida. ;)

I use one in league every week as I'm there to enjoy myself, which means being able to take my eyes off my cue during the night and not be all stressed about it. So my custom cues are for home and tournament duty.

I'm happy with the playability. Mine has a long pro taper but my understanding is they don't all. So make sure of what taper you are buying. The workmanship is OK, nothing great, but that's not why I bought it.

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on one simply because the market is dictated by the price of his Ebay cues. The good news to that is they're only about $150+- and there is a market for them so if you ever want to flip a used one you could probably get $75 to $100 for it.

I have owned one for a couple years, got it off ebay. Put an OB classic pro with a Kamui Med tip and it shoots great. (paid more for the OB shaft than I did for the cue).

Listen to these folks. I got a Sly sneaky a few weeks ago and have already fallen completely in love with it. I can't say that I have shot with a DP but hear that his more recent cues aren't worth the money. Leon Sly is a member on AZ! I promise, you won't regret it.

I have one I use for my apa league, shoots fine it's a 125$ cue that's all that I can say. Looks cool if you want more than a sneaky for looks. I'm not a collector so resale isn't a concern to me. I feel it shoots better than evenly priced production cues. I do agree kind of odd taper but hey if you are looking at or buying 125$ cues your not out there playing SVB and its not going to effect your game. I live in the California valley and I too have noticed a little shrinking on the butt. I noticed a change in the hit about 2 months of having the cue I think it is due to the dry climent here and the effect of that on the shaft. Over all I think it's a good cue for the money and something I don't worry about having leaned against a chair at a APA match in bar that might or will get knocked over. I laugh when I see guys playing in these bar box leagues with a ranking of 4-5 with 500$+ cues telling people how much that predator/OB/hybrid shaft has improved there game. LOL. Yes those high dollar cues are better but are you really going to use it to its full potential? If the answer is yes buy it but if you answer anything other than yes you might want to think about one of the good looking cheap learner cues that DP offers. Once you get good and move on to a high quality cue the DP will make a great cue to sell the new 4 on your team for 50$.

I've owned a couple. They had a better hit than I was expecting. I have sold both and have moved on and now I do not own any production cues. Not because I think they are not worth owning, it is just the custom cues fit in my budget at the time I was looking for a cue. To me skill level of the player should not have anything to do with how much someone spends on a cue. If you know the feel you are looking for in a cue and you find it buy it. If you can't afford it ask around and find a cue in your price range that you like. I am not a highly skilled player I fit in the above average crowd. Lack of practice is what keeps me from getting better not the cue I am playing with. If you like DP cues play with them. If you base your opinion on a player by what cue he/she is using you might find yourself playing alone.
