Danny D commentating US Open finals?

It's one of the reasons I dont think pool can progress. Professional commenting and knowledge share helps progress the sport. Mosconi btoadcadting is biased but they at least have great commentators.

How can you not know guys who are up and coming players like: kaci klenti, albin ouschan, Joshua filler and the ko brothers?

They’re trying? You contradict yourself. They’re the ones putting the old rambler on who has been plain awful for at least 4+ years

I’m not watching this match so I can’t say anything about that, but it is true that Danny does make more mistakes than he used to, but he is knowledgeable- he was a great straight pool player from what I’ve heard. Also, he can be quite funny especially when paired with Incardona. Not the best, but you can do worse

loyalty and the 'right thing'-sorta giving Danny a pension. Im OK w it-Wish i had a friend like Pat and glad i dont need one so far.

I do agree on the poor commentating, though mark Wilson saves me hitting the mute button.

This is just a soporific mis-pairing. If Danny is going to be this soft spoken then there needs to be someone else to keep viewers' attention.
 
Danny is very aware of international talent. He just, old school as he is, makes some sensitive comments. But he always recognizes the Ko
Brothers and all international talent including filler and kaci this year.

I don't so much mind when he guesses at the wrong shot, but many times he zones out and says that the wrong guy is shooting, or he doesn't know what ball is up next. Heck, when little Ko was playing, he said, "Well that shot didn't roll off", without realizing that Ko missed and the ball was hanging in the jaws.

He's just not sharp enough anymore to be commentating IMO.

Like has been said before... Pat Fleming is showing some level of loyalty to Danny even if Danny may not be 100 percent in his commentary these days. Danny is one of the few "old guard" players left with us from the Johnston City days, and if him commentating every fookin' match that Accu-Stats does allows him to have just a LITTLE bit more comfortable last few years left, then it's the least I can do as a pool fan to show respect for past player of a game that doesn't do a whole lot for it's older
champions.

Danny won't be with us too much longer, most likely, and there are no older players waiting in line to make that massive $50-$100 per match commentating. You'll get your younger commentator soon enough.

Stop being so selfish and try doing your last little part to acknowledge one of our past champions. I am sure if he goes straight senile behind the mic, then Pat will do what needs to be done and put Danny out to pasture.

Until that time comes, however, stop fookin' whining.

I just bet a lot of people whining about Danny's commentary will be the same two faced fookers saying what a great champion he was when he dies.

That about sums it up. I don't care that he gets his predictions wrong. He is not knowledgeable about current players or get to know the rules or who's playing who. Gets speed of players wrong. Best commentators this week MW and JJ
 
If Danny is going to be the commentator for old time's sake then he should go all out with the old-timer stories, jokes, and so on. "That shot reminds me of the time in 1979..."

Respect. As people age, todays society tends to be dismissive of them. Their out of touch, don't know what's happening, live in the past, blah ,blah. I don't feel that way.
People , like Danny D. have more life experiences than most. If you enjoy stories about legendary players from the past who are no longer alive, Danny is the window into that era. I appreciate Upstate Al having Danny work Turning Stone. Always a treat.
For the people who lose RESPECT for someone because their older, their missing out on picking the brain of a walking encyclopedia.
