Danny Diliberto's new book !!!

Danny came into town last night. He is going to be staying for a few weeks, giving lessons and exhibitions, and do some fishing :).......etc...

I was happy and surprised when he dug in his backpack and handed me a copy of his new book on CD!

All I have to say is WOW. This is the book we all have been waiting for.

I'm sure most of you have heard Danny do commentary on the Accu-Stats tapes. He is an amazing guy, with very quick wit, and an amazing recollection of detail......Not to mention that he knows more about pool that just about anybody who has ever lived....

He takes you there....If you are a true pool fan, this is a must read!

ZZM,
STOP IT!!! First your avatar, and now Danny's book. We are being tortured by all these things we can't have.

P.S. - Definitely looking forward to reading it.

This is some great reading....I am going to see Danny again tonight. I am going to ask him if it would be alright to cut-n-paste some of the anecdotes to this thread.....

Keith M. ,

If you read this thread, can you please elaborate on the story about being kicked out of school when you were 12 years old??? This was too funny !

Is this the one he did with Jerry Forsyth? I read an early draft and it was excellent.

Mike

Hey ZigZag Master! If you see Danny again please ask him to give me a call. I tried calling him recently but was unable to reach him by phone. He was probably on the road. He should have my number, but just in case, it's (513)553-2172! Thanks!

Here's a funny one:
-------------------------------

This was not my first trip to Palace Billiards. A Straight Pool player named Vern Peterson owned the room and it was here that I had first met a young kid named Keith McCready. It had been in the late 60’s and there was high-stakes action going 24 hours a day. Stakehorses filled every chair and incredible gambling went on there for over a year. Keith was in on the action at night and sleeping under the tables in the daytime. He was a skinny, pimple-faced twelve-year-old who, due to his skills, was accepted into the adult world of racks and payouts.

Keith loved pool and gambling. He would go to the horse track with the other players and they would have to place his bets for him because he wasn’t old enough to place his own. I started worrying about this kid I saw sleeping under the tables and I was wondering why he wasn’t in school. So one day I cornered Keith and I asked him about that.

“Keith”, I said. “I’m not trying to stick my nose into your business, but why aren’t you in school getting an education?”

“They kicked me out”. He said.

“Kicked you out? Why did they kick you out, Keith?”

“For having too much money.”

“Too much money? They kicked you out for having too much money? Why would they kick you out for that? “

“I don’t know. I just asked my gym teacher to hold my cash one day because I was afraid to leave it in my locker; I thought it could be stolen. So the gym teacher sort of smiled at me and said, “Sure I’ll hold the cash.” and then he asked me how much I had. I pulled twelve grand out of my pocket and they kicked me out for having too much money.”
