Hello to the pocket billiard world,
Some might be relieved to know that I did get paid from the Queens NY tournament Mr. Bin Min sent me a check for what exactly was owed. The Big Apple 9-ball Challenge was held Aug. 15-17 and It turns out that I deposited the check on the 23rd of that very same month so the funds were swiped rather quickly from that particuler account. I apologize to everyone for being such a crybaby in these matters but I felt it that by going public on the forum that it could be insturemental in helping me get paid. I am currently communicating with brady so that I can get the main kink out of my hose.
hopefully we will get to the bottom of these missing $ orders he refers to,but once again I have given him my phone # and address so we might be able to settle this missing $. If anyone is interested I will keep the forum notified if brady does decide to pay the $1,850.00.
Thanks (The Springfield Kid) Danny Harriman

Danny, you will get whats deserved, take a pill sit back and have a beer. I dont think people are so concerned that they want to chat about the same stuff over and over. Bin Min paid you, great. I didnt, that sucks. I take the blame for my "2002 Mid Atlantic Disaster Championships".

Have a Great Day,
Brady

Brady: You may be wrong on this one. I for one am concerned if you do the right thing and take care of this. No need to take cheap shots at Danny for airing "your dirty laundry". The sum is relatively small and I think you should do the right thing like Bin Min and just pay it off. Until you do I would be interested in what has transpired. For your and your Dad's public relations it is a good idea to be honorable. I know I would not attend any event of yours (I hope there are many others that feel the same way) until you get honest and straighten this out.

My dirty laundry is my dirty laundry that I have to clean. No cheap shots were thrown. As far as attending an event of mine, We don't have to worry about that as i have no intentions of doing large events myself in my future. I learned my lesson. I took a chance, my cahunas were bigger then my pockets, i screwed up and got snowed in and I am still digging my way out. Honorable, I am not hiding and will be resolving my laundry as soon and as diligent as possible, I think I am honorable for speaking aloud about this and not hiding in the basement or "Lurking".

Brady

Brady,
I respect you for coming out and saying that you screwed up and are going to try to make it good as soon as you can. You can't do much more than that imho. For your sake and Danny's, I hope you get financially well enough to put this all behind you soon. Good luck!

brady, ive never had the chance to meet you, but i know of you because you and your dads name is plastered all over the industry. that is the reason im astonished by your reaction for this whole thing. i personally think its piss poor, and i would never play in one of your tourneys. even if or when you make this right, i still wouldnt participate because of the attitude youve displayed. ill tell ya what, ill take $1800 from you, and when you come to me for it, ill tell you to sit back, take a pill and have a beer. lets see what your reaction would be. joey

And thank you for adding "Danny Harriman, the Springfield Idiot" touch. that goes a long ways towards mending any bent bridges, it speaks volumes towards telling me about you, thank you very much.

I'm just an occasional poster here, have been on RSB since '94, under different names, different computers, can't coordinate them all. Been here a long time, not going away is my point.

I like and appreciate the fact that you step up and say you owe Danny Harriman and it was a financial disaster, and your are doing your best to pay off debts owed. This is honorable. Kudos to you, your dad, your upbringing, and commitment to the pool world. So schedule pay off fast. Before your next change of car.

Danny having his finances in a mess until now, casting nasties around widely, not so cool. He was wronged. Bin Min, if I have the name right, is now square with Danny.

You, Berry, are not Cool with Danny yet. I think it would behoove you to either negotiate a lump sum settlement fee paid now that Danny will no longer publicly gripe about things, or work out a full payment schedule with him and pay it off, in which case later you can state proudly he was paid in full and is also a full-blown shrunken-head Springfield Idiot. Currently he is a large figurative monkey the rest of the pool world is watching on your back to see what goes, and he is in the main right. Talking him down and yet still not paying him paints you in full and poor lighting, IMO. Best be quiet till debts paid, ne'st ce' pa?

Danny, Frank Alvaraz, UPA dues is a separate issue, not to be confused with your debts or others speediness in paying off. Pay, it is only $100, play, back to pro business. Don't be silly, there aren't any other games in town.

One view from the cheap seats. Blackjack offers, you can take his help and be beholden or do it your way. So far I am waiting to see if you have the smarts to kindly get paid from everyone, keep the pro tour, and get sponsorship, without pissing anyone off. So far I am not convinced with your diplomatic skills, so suck it up, be a pro, and SHOW ME Missouri guy, I am a Kansas guy, ad astra per aspera, to the stars through difficulty.

Good luck, gambari mas (Japanese).

I'll chime in one more time on this subject publicly, and then I will keep the rest of this issue where it belongs - between the people involved.

Danny Harriman and I had a very long conversation this evening and spoke about a lot of issues pertaining to this matter. I got involved in this because it was a bad situation that had gone and on long enough. In speaking with everybody involved, I see where this situation has been difficult for all involved. We have a young man that had many financial hardships, and ended up owing alot of money to several people. We have a great pool player that wanted to get paid what he earned at a tournament. We have the UPA, who tried to help Danny out, and did all that they could to try and get him paid. The UPA is just as frustrated with this situation as Danny. I became involved because $2400 is too little a price to bicker about. I want to get Danny Harriman back on the pro tour because he belongs there. There are personality conflicts, money issues, and dishonesty. We all know who doesn't like who, and who owes who. The hard part is figuring out what the solution is. We can sit back, call the people in this incident idiots, but remember that this is an emotionally charged issue with all parties involved. Each of these men see this situation from their own perspective. One thing I can assure you, is that Danny Harriman will get paid what he is owed. There is currently a dispute over how much Brady paid Danny Harriman. Brady is willing to pay Danny Harriman what he owes. Brady has addressed this and other issues publicly. Danny is more than willing to work things out as well. The UPA wants Danny Harriman. I believe that many fans would like to see Danny Harriman on the pro tour once again.

The issue that comes up with matters such as this - is that players do not have many options when this occurs. They cant afford to hire a lawyer and they have no representation outside of what the UPA is willing to do for them.
In regards to paying their players, the UPA has gone to great lengths to ensure that this will never happen again at any of their events. I spoke with Frank about the possiblity of appointing a mediator to work in cases such as this. It doesnt have to be me, it can be anyone that can work towards a timely solution to make sure that small problems dont end up being big problems. The players need somebody separate from the UPA that they an turn to in cases such as this when communication breaks down. I'm not saying that we must micromanage the tour with a players union... but the players need their own representation, separate from the tour. I will speak with Charlie Williams next week and see what the UPA is planning to do in regards to situations like Danny's. When I spoke with Frank Alvarez, he briefly mentioned that there is something in the works.

In the meantime we are still working towards a solution. All of the parties involved want this issue resolved, it is just a matter of making it happen. For that to occur, there must be communication. This means answering or returning phone calls, and refraining from taking cheap shots at each other on internet forums. Thats not going to solve anything. All it is going to do is turn this situation into a heated debate with people choosing sides. I would also like to respectfully request that both Brady and Danny not communicate with each other through this forum regarding this issue. Its not winning points for either of you and its counterproductive. Enough bullets have been fired already. Lets get this problem solved.

Casting Nasty's

Well you don't like my nickname and so you thought you might cast me some nastyness maybe your right maybe i am an idiot for thinking I could go to a tournament and get paid. If me wanting to get paid is casting nasty's than I have got an incredibly accurate nickname for you are you ready? " The Kansas Idiot"
Your a blooming idiot with a typwriter, Good Day (Springfield Danny)

Thanks Joey

I appreciate your post and I think you are one of the only people who truly understands how I feel, I spent $1,100 in expenses on the event and won $2000.00 supposedly, all I ask is to be $900.00 to the good instead I'm $3,100.00 in the negative. That was three and a half years ago, however he claims that he will make good, I don't understand his thinking either so what i've owed this guy almost $2000.00 since Jan. of 2002, Brady will be able to relax and drink his beer along with his chill pill when the payments start coming in to me. I am an honest pool player I know that sounds hard to believe, I don't ask anyone for hand outs but I do respect your aknowledging what is right and just thank you again for your post.
Sincerely, "Springfield Danny"

Yo Danny, i have a question. You state that brady owes you some money. OK, he has admitted that he does. Do you remember the year to were forced to forfeit a match at the U S Open and got mad and went home, forfeiting the rest of the tournament and never told anybody about it. Do you feel that you owe the person anything that bought you in the calcutta and had paid something like $350.00 for you and never had a chance. if you had told either Barry or Scott Smith that you were leaving then this man could have saved that money to bid on somebody else. just a simple question.....mike

First let me state that i am a big fan of Danny's. gotta love a winner.
To answer your question, no. but, i went to the Open that year with a friend named Chuck from the syracuse NY area. I was there when he bid on danny and won and the only reason he bid on Danny was he had asked me who was left to bid on i told him Danny was a good bet so he bid on danny on my word alone. and then when he saw that Danny had forfeited out of the tournament the next day he tried to get his money back. nope, no chance. i have been to the OPEN 17 straight years and i have never seen anything like this ever happen before. why did'nt he just tell them he was leaving. It is Danny's fault for being late for his match. he could have stayed and played out the tournament. ask him why he left. He blamed Barry and Scott smith for his being late cuz he accused them of changing his times. the times are posted up on the board for all to see.............mike

ps....and yes i covered chucks loss. he did not ask for it, but i insisted he take it. our friendship is worth alot more to me than $350.00. Ask anybody who knows me and they will all tell you that i am a stand up guy and watch the backs of my friends. and i have met alot of people from both this board and the CCB.........................................mike

Hello Danny,

This is Bob Romano. I played you when you were 17 years old at Ceasers Outer Limits in Lemont, IL. My wife Eydie, does most of the posting here under my name but I wanted to personally welcome you to the forums.

I did not forfeit on purpose

I will answer your question or is it an insult? Anyway that year there was many different tours and as a result alot of bracket boards I was very young and frankly a little wet behind the ears. There were more players in the Open that year than I could remember and I read the bracket board wrong and forfeited my match to Dave Bollman but I that was from the one loss side I had allready been defeated once I could be wrong but you might want to check your facts on that one again. But as you were presumtiouse in your determining that I forfeited on purpose I hope you were betting on me and lost that would not bother me at all.

That answer is as typical a pool player as they come. I've seen people sold in calcutta's that never even show up for the first day of the tourney.
Does anyone really wonder why this sport is so far in the toilet?

Danny, i was not trying to insult you. i was just wondering why you forfeited out of the OPEN. and to the best of my knowledge, the match you forfeited on was only the 2nd day of the tourny and you had not already lost. your 1st loss from that open was the forfeit to Dave Bollman. If you read my question right i never said that the first forfeit was on purpose. i said that your 2nd forfeit was the one you did on purpose when you left and went home. I just wanted to know why you never came back. and i believe my facts are correct and not presumtious in the least......................mike
