Darts vs Billiards

Money wise? I love them both equally. Pro darts players make WAY more money than Pro Billiards players. Just look at the atmosphere in the PDC, sponsorship, fanatics, etc.. Blackpool rocks. Why is that? Phil "The Power" Taylor could retire today at Stoke on Trent like royalty with 16 world championships. The Crafty Cockney wasn't bad either.

John Lowe made one hundred thousand pounds in one single game in 1984. Pro billiards doesn't pay near what Pro darts does. Why?

They fight worse than pool players do, or not?
Taylor and Mason seem to like each other a lot.
Sound familiar?

I hear the FDA is going to make them quit showing bowling and darts on tv as the sleep meds aren't selling so well what with everyone tuning in to those sports to get to sleep.:boring2:

The beauty and non-repitition of pool shots trumps darts.,,,yet, pool payouts lag.

I, too, would like to know why that is. It doesn't seem to make much sense.

The #1 reason is pool is lacking a good strong organization and a pro tour.

Have you actually watched darts? The atmosphere is electric. Darts is fast and furious, and hugely exciting - everything pool is not, but should be. Pool on TV is a waste of time - unwatchable.

Pool is FAR more exciting than darts....very limited options at darts.
...and the better you get at darts...the more you get 'board'

At pool, you need to be like a boxer, a golfer, and a physicist.....
...and have chess ability
..and that's just to be a 5 in the APA

pool is a "boring" game. Its like asking chess to be fast and furious. Pool will never be a huge TV sport just like chess or others. In pool you must think, in darts you don't need to. Basically in darts is 100% talent, in pool you don't need to have only talent, look Ralf Souquet he is less talented than Strickland but he can beat him because his intelligence and strategy.
What do you suggest to make pool more interesting? The player must run around the table and shoot at warp speed every ball?
I reapeat, pool will never be a huge TV sport, ok maybe in the future will be bigger, but i don't think it will be as huge as football or basketball.

Have you seen the amount of spectators they have at some of the big darts match-ups. I watched one a couple weeks ago and there must have been 10,000 people in the arena watching, everyone was screaming and waving signs. Good luck getting that kind of crowd for a pool tournament.

Pool would be much more watchable if the camera work was better--that is don't move the <friggen> camera while the stroke is going on, nor while the CB is rolling towards the OB. That way, we can see exactly what the guy did to move the ball the way it did.

err played with Dennis Priestly in Dallas at least I had a shot at an out..

I like darts
I like pool

I don't like smokey places
