Date a cue

I have been hand signing my cues with my name and a date..like this . "Walker 08-2013"

Now that I have a CNC machine, I want to inlay a "W" in the butt cap.

Is there any way to still get the date on the cue somewhere? I have seen some info written under the bumper but I am not sure how that will last.

Any suggestions???

I usually put the date under the wrap,
Then seal with cyano
Same under buttcap, layer of cyano to lock it in

Are you inlaying the W or engraving it? If your engraving it would be pretty easy to just engrave the date also.

Some even cut a flat spot on the joint pin and engrave the date or serial # there. I personally still sign the cue and then put the year before sealer goes on.

I am engraving the W but I thought that the date would just be too much. I am thinking of Engraving the W and then using an engraving tool to put the date on the head of the weight bolt. I am using a big flat head screw so that there's a lot of room to engrave on it.

you could engrave the buttcap under the bumper when you make the buttcap, before it is attached to the cue. That is how I do it. I engrave the year the cue was made and fill the engraving with white fill. That will last forever as long as the buttcap remains on the cue. With your CNC machine, it should be no problem.

But if that weight bolt is removed or changed, the date would be gone from the cue.

Depending on the type of joint screw you use the date could be engraved on it.
