David "Blackjack" Sapolis

...and, don't forget, he was one of the few insiders who was not taken in by the unfortunate incident that was the IPT......

This I admire him for. He called not only what would happen to the IPT, but about when it would happen, and pretty much how it would go down. In a time where it would have been easy to jump in on the frenzy, David kept his rationality and asked everybody to just stop and think. Of course, they didn't, which is what made him look so smart.

My hat's off to David. In another time, he would have been The Commissioner of all B.S. ;) *

These threads always crack me up; the internet and discussion forums have reinvented the group hug.

But bemusement over the awkwardness of the typed word as a medium for discussion aside, Blackjack's commitment to spreading knowledge about pool is indeed an awesome thing. Blackjack, I don't see why you should ever have to buy your own drinks in any bar that has an internet-literate pool player in it. You certainly won't have to if that internet-literate pool player is me. I might make play a few racks and show me a few things, though.

Thank you everybody for all of these nice comments! I have always viewed it as MY honor to teach others, not the other way around. It is great to find out that what you do is appreciated!

I always enjoy Blackjacks posts as well. He always brings an intelligent and unbiased opinion to the table. He never seems to split hairs with anyone on disagreeing topics and tries to convey wisdom to help everyone. We are definitely lucky to have him here.

rep for you Gregg for bringing this thread up. Special thanks to Blackjack for everything he's done for the sport and our internet community so far and for future contribution. Keep it like that!

Dave really gives back to the sport. He's been abroad (although I hear he is now def a man :P) and he knows what works in billiards.

He once said he thinks I could run 300 if I learned more about straight pool and it gave me the desire to play the game better. I haven't had the time to beat 300 yet but I wouldn't have had the success I have without Dave's tips and advice.

I thoroughly enjoy the posts by Blackjack. His posts are no nonsense, and always a value to the forum. I would love to get a chance to get a lesson or two from him one day.

He is a true asset to the board.

...and to think there was some people even on this board going around real world tournaments bad mouthing him within the industry, shame on them!

Probably one of the first things I read online when I decided to start hitting pool balls again a few years ago was Blackjack's online articles. Good stuff for sure. Thanks for sharing those:)
