1. The way David played against Chris -- I would bet on The Peanut Man against him. Yeah, it was that bad.

2. The way BOTH David and Chris played, I would bet on Chen to tear either a new one.

That is all.

The Peanut Man! Booyah!

Since you are so convinced, why don't you explain what happened in the first four games which set the tone of the whole match.

Secondly, explain anythng Chen does better thatn Chris did on this day.

Thirdly, why hasn't Chen challenged Chris or David to do anything.

Lastly, do you play pool at all?

Does Chen speak decent engrish now? I remember I first met Chen on a local BCA 8 ball league I was on while doing a temporary job out in Tx. I was the top shooter in the league until he showed up. My team captain just said hey man you should try to play one of our new teammates and see if you can beat him..

Just the way it was worded was a bit odd to me since I've beaten a lot of people and he knew it. Chen shows up, as nice as ever, even though he couldnt speak much english you could tell he was a nice guy. He broke.. ran out a tough rack of 8 ball... broke again.. ran again.. broke again.. ran again.. Repeating of course. I was like well now...

So anyway there was this other lil asian guy who was teaching Chen english. I moved away and looked Chen up 2 years later and seen he was dominating Fast Eddies and won the Houston Open etc.

Anyway.. history aside. Does he speak decent english now or does he come equipped with a personal translater?

we are going to play this game again. just so you know.....and the people who say this about chen and david need to get the facts straight...chen has never beat david gambling and if you want to post sometihng and bet a good amount we can meet somewhere and ask both of them when this happend. your story is wrong..... chris is a good guy to gamble with no problems no bs. just get down and play.... he has respect from our side. but david is going to play this game again;)

Sorry if I am wrong on that Louie. You should know. I have been told more than once though that Chen and David matched up in Houstan, shortly after Chen showed up. Supposedly David and Cliff were in the pool hall together? The older gray haired guy, that has been backing David recently at Diamonds, told me. I think his name is Ricky or something?

Have I offended you somehow by expressing my opinion sir?

To answer your questions:

1. Unfortunately I only caught the last two hours of the match, so a little over half of this epic showdown.. Perhaps you could tell me?

2. Let's see... hm... I witnessed at least four miserably failed safety attempts by Chris, and every rack he finished he had to rely on shot-making because he kept setting poorly. Granted, I haven?t seen Chen play for large amounts of money, however I have watched him play extensively and very rarely does he have either of these problems. Obviously, opinions on this matter will vary.

3. I asked him that very question. His response was "too much money!" Beyond that, I guess you'd have to ask the man himself.

4. I play bumper pool.

I hope David and Chris play again. I will be there, betting on Chris. David's a real nice guy, but I've watched him gamble a few times, and he hasn't done a little thing called "win."

Good enough english to get by, but he's normally with several other people fluent in both languages.

No, I'm not offended at all. Opinions are just that and everyone has theirs.

I('m through with this.

Good enough for me. Peace.

Great discussion! I watched a good deal of the match between David G. and Chris B. and David just didn't have it going on that day. I have seen David G. play better... he missed shape more than a few times and bobbled more than his share of balls.

As for the Chen vs. David G. discussion... I'm leaning towards Chen, but I know for a fact that Ironman has watched Chen play for longer than I have (on the Fast Eddie's tour), so his opinion probably holds stronger than mine.

Their styles of play are very different.

David G. (IMHO) seems very mechanical and very technical.

Chen (again, IMHO) seems to play by feel.

As for why Chen doesn't get into big money games... maybe the language barrier is a deterrent for stakehorses and there's the fact that he generally doesn't gamble day to day, whereas I know David G. does. Also, I'm not sure if David G. has kids, but Chen has a wife and kid to consider, so I'm not sure if he's willing to risk much if his own money. If I had the money, I wouldn't mind staking him myself, but I don't have the money to burn.

Just out of curiosity, when David G. and Chen gambled in the past, did they play on 8 or 9-footers?

Also, what time frame are we looking at for the re-match between David G. and Chris B.? Any other big games coming to Dallas anytime soon?

I watched Chen play Little John the Friday before the Houston open. He had NO trouble playing for the money, in fact he was in dead stoke. His backer was translating via cellphone with Chens Wife (?) and was more than willing to put the money up. However after every set Chen wanted to leave. He was up around 5K and LJ nor Chens backer could keep him on the table.

I consider David and Louie close pool buddies, however....I believe David isn't at the top of his game right now. Sure he's in action every now and then here...but back in the early days he was playing everyday for whatever he wanted...David didn't win this last big set that came his way, but once the second or third comes along ....lookout...David will become the dominating champion he once was again....By the Way.....I would put my money on either of them. (Chen or David)

I don't think Chen has problem playing for money, but I don't think he actively looks for money games on a day-to-day basis. Sure, if he's at a big tournament or something, but at local tournament I generally haven't seen him looking to play for money.

I heard he played SVB when SVB was in Dallas and lost... however, I hear that the "ahead" set went on for quite the afternoon. I think that speaks for his game that he could hang with SVB for several hours at least.

In any case, I'm hoping to see a David G. and Chris B. re-match soon!
