David Matlock

smashmouth...Since I should not have opened my big mouth to begin with, what purpose would it serve to correctly name the alleged perpetrator? It's still an allegation (even if it is well known).

Matlock is a class act

:thumbup: I think David is one of the nicest human beings I have ever met, and the gentlemen who said otherwise is in the minority, I know about 1,000 people who know David well and this is the first negative thing I have ever heard said of David. Scott Lee wish he knew as much about pool as David Matlock. :grin-square: :wink: :grin-square:

Dave Matlock is among the most honorable men (and pool players) I have ever met. And I've known him a lonnnng time! Dave is a super loyal friend and gives a lot of thought to everything he does or gets involved in. He would never be part of any shenanigans. He is a soft spoken man who is considerate of others, and never acts like a big shot, even though he may be the best bar table player of all time.

He is the kind of guy who would be embarrassed to ask anyone for a loan and if he had to, would find a way to immediately pay it back. I'm not slamming Scott here, he may have gotten confused or just got bad information. I don't know and I don't care. I just want to go on record and let everyone know what I think about Dave. I value his friendship, a lot.
 
Good guy

I got back into pool about 15 years ago,and have run into Dave in Ks,Mo,Ok,Ky,Va,never heard one bad thing about him,he always has been a pleasure to be around

The only other pro player from KC that I know of his Danny Harriman - and Danny is not a bite artist either. I have posted stories of my dealings with Danny before and he was more than honorable with me. Danny might bite off his nose to spite his face at times by standing for his convictions to an extreme end but he is not a bite artist.

I say this is all Bull$hit.

Jay...FOR THE RECORD, again, I made a mistake by saying anything at all...and I regret it (I was taught not to say anything if it wasn't nice...but sometimes I fail to follow my own advice). I was confused, and did get the name wrong. I apoligized for it, and MEANT it. BTW, you KNOW the person I meant to name, and you know he's a bite artist (you have backed him in the past...and it's not DH). If you are interested in who, you can pm me...and then report back here (without naming names) that I was correct, but had the wrong person.

Why are you writing this response to me? I wasn't the one who questioned you. I said I didn't care, and I don't. So please don't lay this off on me. You're on your own here.

I don't want to stir the pot either, but Scott's explaination just doesn't seem plausible. He mentioned the words 'Matlock' and 'Dave' in his first response to this thread. Also the name of the thread is 'DAVE MATLOCK'.:yikes: I just don't see how you could get people confused like this. I hope I am wrong, but it seems like BS to me.
 
Exactly... he was WAY TOO SPECIFIC to be "Confused"

and If I was Matlock I'd be PISSED! (and about several balls better than I am LOL) Basically IMHO Scott made a slanderous statement about a highly regarded gentleman and CHAMPION, his bluff was called (whether he expected it or not), and then began to frantically try and remove the foot that was lodged firmly between his jaws. I really liked Jay's response to Scott's plea for help ... to paraphrase.. "Hell no, you said it, you straighten it out...Don't you dare try and involve me in this mess". Every one of Scott's "explanations" were more suspect than the one before.

Before this, I have heard nothing but GREAT things about Scott Lee. it's almost like someone hacked his account and is trying to sabotage his stellar reputation.

I'm sure we're making mountains out of ant hills but this was way out of line IMO

I wouldn't take a lesson now from Scott Lee on how to chalk my cue.

Funny how in another thread TAR got confronted for defending themselves and told how they should act as a business. And here we have Scott Lee who basically uses this site to promote his business and takes a cheap shot at David Matlock, a player that has a clean reputation as a player and should probably be in the Hall of Fame. The shot Scott Lee took was unprovoked and unfounded. His excuse is lame and from what I know of 'pros' in KC - if it was not DH or Matlock, than a lie. Please someone list a pro from KC that I don't know about.
 
I know I can't think of one in KC. Maybe one of those "unknown" champion world beaters.....i mean world "biters" LOL

you're right ... the horse is dead and we're kicking the hell out of him... I guess the lesson to be learned is be very careful what you say/repeat becasue It might just "bite" you in the arse... <--- pun intended.

Scott is a good guy and I know he meant no harm and I hope there are no hard feelings. It's just that I feel like reputations are like trust... Lifetimes to build and mere moments to foul up... oh well on with the show!
 
I don't even know Mr. Scottt Lee, and almost just kept my mouth shut at the beginning of this thread.

That being said, after reading all the other members' comments, I hope it is perfectly clear that Mr. David Matlock is held in the highest esteem by most. And I've known him since he was 19 or 20.

The derogatory remark would have been unwise, even if it had been true. This type of comment is not for a public forum. Especially from someone who's trying to sell their services. Their was no provacation of Scott Lee.

PS; I've only met David Matlock once, he was every bit a gentleman.
