Day 2 Mosconi Matches in Progress Coverage

Deuel breaks rack four with a chance to tie this match, which has been an ugly one to this point.

Dry break but the one sits tough. Boyes plays a barely passable safety and Corey undercuts the one. Safety by Boyes is a dandy and Deuel must jump.and he leaves Boyes a good look at the one. Tricky run out chance, but Boyes is equal to the task. Pretty run out.

Boyes 3 Deuel 1

Worth noting that these two players, who have almost identical playing philosophies, mesh so well.

Justin Hall is playing the same kind of pool that got him a 7th place finsih in the toughest ever US Open a couple of months ago.

Gotta feel great for Hall and Bergman and for Team USA. As we say in baseball, they've set the table, giving Deuel a chance to give Team USA its first lead in this Mosconi Cup.

Is this fun or what?

USA was up 2-1 after the first three matches

Monster break by Boyes to open rack five. Should be out .... And is.

Boyes 4 Deuel 1

Might just be my imagination but it appears that several in the crowd hope to shark/disrupt with extended ooooooh's when the u.s. team gets a little out of shape etc.

It's a bar/pub crowd obviously...they are half plastered or worse.

I think Boyes may be Phil Mickelson's illegitimate son.

Corey makes a ball but has no shot on the one. Plays a good safe and Boyes kicks back safe even better. Corey kicks in behind the one, sticks the cue ball behind the two and now Boyes is in as much trouble as his dad playing Tiger Woods heads up.

Boyes kicks in the one, I am not sure how the one didn't hit the 9 and still went in. But he is hooked on the 6 and can't see the 2. Kicks safe, leaving distance on the 2. Corey plays another nice safe and Boyes kicks out of it again, getting safe.

Corey kicks in behind the two, off the top rail and leaves distance and no shot to Boyes. Boyes flails attempting a safe and Corey should now be out.

Corey out of line on the 6, missed it but the bar table takes the ball and he finishes the run out.

Is it just me, or do these guys rarely use follow? Seems like every shot is from center cue ball to low.

Corey breaks wet in rack six but the balls don't spread well and he must play a safe on the one. Hits it beautifully. Boyes kick is a dandy, although there was definitely some luck involved in hooking back. Deuel safes bac on the kick. wow, what a sequence of great play! Boyes kick hard and makes the one but must kick at the two. great kick keeps the safety play exchange in progress. Corey tries to bank the two, misses and leaves it safe. Boyes return safes him in this breathtaking exchange.

At long last, Corey has a shot on the two. should be out ... and is. Gutsy rack to stay alive. Well done!

Boyes 4 Deuel 2

Boyes breaks, can't make a ball again. Tell me again that Corey is losing this match.

Corey with a tough shot on the one and no real shot on the two. Elects to try a billiard to the 9. Misses the 9 but lucks in the 1. Plays a safe on the two, putting him behind the 5 and 8 but didn't really get him that safe. Could have been better.

This crowd is brutal. I get the rowdiness but they are crossing the line now. Some need to be shown the door to the outside... Oh and I am cheering for Europe.. ;)
