DAZN Raises Prices Again

I just got an email saying it will be $20/Month or $225/Year if paid upfront. Didn't they raise it from $99 to $150 within the last year?

The letter talks about all the boxing matches, but I only watch Matchroom Pool. Matchroom has been doing a good job; they don't make it easy to drop. I wish I didn't have to pay for a boxing channel to get a few days of pool per month.

Yes. It was $99 when I first subscribed. I think they are tired of bleeding money. Here is some financial info:

It has been reported that the global streaming platform made a loss of $2.33 billion in 2021.
Sport Business revealed that the company’s total losses over the past three reported years now touches $5 billion. The article points out that the operating loss – the number incurred when expenses exceed gross profits – was $1.36 billion. It’s an increase of over $200 million from 2020’s $1.15 billion.
Various articles mention that they spent a lot of money on rights to events and that the lack of sports during the pandemic shutdown was a major problem.

I think I can deal with a month at a time for particular events, but I'll put a couple of reminders on my calendar to unsubscribe promptly.

I was a staunch supporter before. $100 for all the Matchroom events and maybe some other sport I don’t watch was a great deal. Especially compared to PPV platforms charging $40-$70 for a single event. But this is a threshold that might make sense for combat sports but certainly doesn’t make sense for pool. I hope Matchroom sees that. Otherwise US audiences are positioned to be left out in the cold. And that doesn’t bode well for the Mosconi Cup.

There are gizmos available online that give you all the channels you need.
I spent maybe $300 for one a couple years ago. It gives you everything -including Sky Sports.
The DAZN streams have always had problems, based on the posts on this board.
I bought one for NHL games. After moving out of the area of my home team, I rarely had an opportunity to watch them.
This became even more valuable once we cut the cord.
I'm only posting this to mention there are other options to MR's discrimination toward the US.

imagine that 160 bucks a month for cable .... cut that and you have close to 2k for a lathe ... you can make many things with a lathe and turn that into money potentially ... instead of paying for tv that returns nothing...Guaranteed

I tried that a small handful of years ago. Unfortunately those gizmos are very sensitive to the quality of your ISP. I opted to live outside urban areas that are catered to for such services. It's the welcomed cross I bear for some additional peace and quiet.

...but imagine having a lathe to make things and the ability to watch game while doing so... ;)

I use to watch every UFC event when they were 59.95, up from 49.95. Now i watch maybe 2 a year @79.95. Also pissed Dana lied and said the UFC had 'no control' over UFC's pricing. Yeah right like he gave ESPN the power to destroy his business-real likely!

I just cancelled annual DAZN effective 11/23/23-will go on the monthly as needed-Half the WPC was on Youtube free this year anyway.

Yikes! From 99/yr to 225/yr?! I was a DAZN fanboy at the former price. 225 and I’m probably going to cancel.

Maybe I'm locked in at 99/yr? It looks like I was not charged the prior price increase to 150/yr or so. What do other subscribers see on their account?
