DAZN Raises Prices Again

Yes. It was $99 when I first subscribed. I think they are tired of bleeding money. Here is some financial info:

It has been reported that the global streaming platform made a loss of $2.33 billion in 2021.
....snip....

I'm shocked DAZN is "anything" in the billion USD range! Profit or loss. I thought they were way, way, way too small to have a B in any dollar amount.

I just got an email saying it will be $20/Month or $225/Year if paid upfront. Didn't they raise it from $99 to $150 within the last year?

The letter talks about all the boxing matches, but I only watch Matchroom Pool. Matchroom has been doing a good job; they don't make it easy to drop. I wish I didn't have to pay for a boxing channel to get a few days of pool per month.
LOL. Just say NO.

Maybe I'm locked in at 99/yr? It looks like I was not charged the prior price increase to 150/yr or so. What do other subscribers see on their account?

@Nostroke

Wow, it looks like the price went up from 99 to 149 right between your renewal date and mine. Also, weird I'm not being charged tax and you are? You are in the USA, correct?

Yikes. This looks like the beginning of the end for DAZN. It was probably just a scam to screw private equity investors to begin with, but we railbirds are collateral damage.

Everyone needs to HAMMER Matchroom with emails/messages about this. They gotta find somebody better than these asshats.

From Emily's public comments I don't think they care about the US market and it doesn't matter to their business model (like snooker). Matchroom's revenue comes from Europe.

If that was true they wouldn't have purchased the US Open or have bigger events over here. I think the US is major in taking pool where they want it.

Hopefully. But they make money by broadcasting those US events to a European market.

Matchroom gets so much money from DAZN for boxing and MMA that they dont care that the fans of niche sports experience this.
I also think they've received so much money from DAZN that it's allowed them to create the UK Open, European Open, etc.

Here is some info about the owner of DAZN. I don't know whether it has outside investors or not. I believe it has not gone public.

I watch an unhealthy amount of pool streams. Rarely do I buy the PPV. It's never as good of an experience as the free streaming on Youtube and it doesn't have chat. :)

Consumers may not like it, but we’re finding out the real break-even price for bespoke streaming services generating original/exclusive content.

Just canceled my sub...DAZN has 2 major cash cows, Anthony Joshua and Cannelo Alvarez. Anthony Joshua went from being one of the biggest draws in the world, to losing a few fights and back to mid card. I imagine DAZN lost a big chunk with him.

Over 200 a year is too much for me personally when several of the MR events are at odd hours/during the workday. You can usually find the replays online

Other than Matchroom streaming, I would say DAZN is complete garbage king.

Between these two, lies about regional content.
Then quality and reliability is sketchy at best.

Depending where you live, much better and cheaper options out there.
