I was wondering what some of you tournament goers thought about these two tournaments back to back.

I have my own thoughts and personally I don't like it. The two tournaments are Jan 22-30 & Feb 4-7, 2010.

That is an awful lot of pool back to back. I love one pocket and I love the DCC but I don't know if I can stand playing in both.

There seems to be a lot more return on investment (ROI) for the one pocket tournament in Oklahoma and it is a lot less days (which means less cash outlay).

I just don't think I can justify going to both tournaments back to back. I'd love to make both of them and its not just the cash outlay that bothers me. Also, its just a lot of days to be away from home, business and family.

Are there any of you who plan on making both of these tournaments? How can you justify it? I'm trying but I fear one of them is going to have to go.

Right now, I hate to say it but I am leaning more toward the shorter tournament if I play. If I do some commentary at DCC, it might force me to lean toward DCC, because I can get in my one pocket "fix" at DCC as well. I don't think the ROI will be the same for the DCC, unless I do lots of commentary and I think Accu-Stats might let me do a few matches, for the most part, they already have their lineup of talent to do commentary.

What are your thoughts?
Thanks,

Joey,

Im going to DCC, as I have every year.

Need to support it, in anyway we can. Greg Sullivan deserves it, and all the credit goes to him and his team.

I hope if everyone makes this decision, then the other tournament will understand the reasoning behind the lack of support.

I think the tournament Gabe is having will be good but if it was a few months after DCC it would be great. I think the turnout might be low for it with people spent from the DCC, just my opinion but what do I know anyway.

I think it is great - especially since it is two tournaments where all the listed added money will actually be added.

People from the west going to the DCC now have a nice stopover on their way home. Hopefully some of the Pinoys and Europeans will be able to fit Tulsa into their stay.

Joey, I would ask myself why I go to tournaments. Am I a guy who primarily wants to earn money playing tournaments or do I want to sacrifice some of those opportunities by playing in tournaments with the toughest oppsosition possible?

I suspect it will be slightly easier to cash in Oklahoma than at the Derby.

At the Derby, as you very well know, there are also more opportunities to both spend and earn money.

Besided, in Oklahoma you will not be able to steal Roys money

I AM NOT A CROOK! I would never steal Roy's money. Is he going to DCC? That could easily sway me.

DCC is the most exciting tourny and everyone who loves pool can afford the trip should definitely go!!!!

many people who attend DCC only for few days, so it's really not that huge of factor money wise.
and for those who attend the while DCC and even thinking about going to 2nd 1pc tourny is either crazy in love with 1pc, or pro who can make money out of it.

either way, it shouldn't be that hard to decide I think.

if you can afford, then go~

JoeyA, are you coming to the T-Town event? Would love to run into you down here...

Efren's already back in L.A. (played tonite in Santa Monica) but he's getting ready to fly out to Tulsa.

This is gonna be an awesome event!

I'm taking sign ups now to sit in the cab for matches and do a little commentary! :)

Gabe will certainly be doing a match or two and I'm sure Jeremy Jones will also be sitting in for a minute.

Maybe we will get lucky and Billy I and Grady will make an appearance too!

Are you sure? I heard he wasn't coming. Neither is Busty.....

Magoo's is my hometown and as far as I know, Earl is coming, Jose, Shane, Schmidt, Scott Frost, Cliff Joyner, and I can't remember the rest........

I will be coming with my brother and another friend. I won't be donating my money in the tournament, but im sure it will go to calcutta or side bets or the like :)
