Hi all,

I won't be going to Derby after all, but it's too late to get my pre-purchased 1-pocket tournament entry fee refunded.

This could be a way for you to get a discount on your 1-hole entry fee for the DCC if you don't have one yet. I could simply forward you the receipt for the ticket purchase and you should be good.

Let's start the bidding at $50 (the ticket is worth $135).

Bidding ends at 11pm, Friday the 21st. The draw for the tournament is at 10am Sunday morning. Gives you a whole day to find internet access and a printer.

I'll take the payment after the tournament starts, if you got in with no problems.
If you tell me you couldn't get in with it, I will call the tournament to make sure my ticket did not get used, so you can't really get in and tell me you didn't.

If anyone has other suggestions or ideas at how I could avoid this being a total loss and maybe also help another pool player out, let me know...

When do you plan on ending the bidding?
 
I don't know if it is possible to do what you're suggesting. Not saying I know for sure, but everything is done by your name. If you have been before, they will print out your player pass before you ever get there and you pick it up.

Like I said, I hope you can get it done, but you might want to call someone and double check before someone gets there and can't play.

Yeah, that's why I am saying you don't pay unless you play. I'll try calling them up, maybe I can get them to change the name on the res?

Make sure to wear the shirt when you play so you have the POWER! I am unsure that you can wear just a tee shirt or long sleeve tee even, I heard its only polos and sweaters or something. :cool:

It depends on who you are. I have seen people told they cannot play for wearing a t-shirt. I also have accu-stats from the derby with guys wearing t-shirts, and have seen many "known" players getting away with lots of things that are in the rules.

Not trying to complain, just an observation from someone who plays every year.

Hmm, yeah I have seen some long sleeve logo tees like from Freddy the Beard and others being worn, just was curious if I can wear something like that or an OTR long sleeve, either way I will have an OTR polo on so its all good. :)
 
Alright guys - I will know at about 4:15 PM Eastern Time for sure if I am able to transfer the name on the entry. Fingers crossed. I won't necessarily be online much but will do my best to keep you guys posted.

Bottom line is that I still don't know.

I tried to get through to the Event Office, they told me that it wouldn't open till 4pm. When I called at 4pm the lady told me to leave a message for a different person because she had no clue if the name could be changed. I left the message but never got a call back. Plus I'm 6 hours ahead in timezones so it's not easy for me to keep hounding them all day (or all night for me). Of course, I will try again today. :sorry:
 
It might be possible

Alright I got ahold of them. The lady told me that I was still able to get a refund (even though the webpage clearly says I cannot).

Since I did put it up for bid here, and I'm a man of my word, the auction is still open (unless you kindly recuse yourself, Lenny :grin-square: ....)

So yeah, still open, if you win it, it's important for me to get your full name, email address, telephone number so that I can attempt to transfer the entry to you (and from the person on the phone it *may* be possible to do this).

Payment will be due if/when I manage to officially transfer the entry to you and you are satisfied that it worked out correctly.

If I am not able to transfer it, I hope you won't blame me for attempting to obtain a refund - although I doubt they will honor it (no matter what I was told) given the clear text on their own page that refund notices had to be received by January 17th in snail-mail...

Hopefully something good can still come of this, thanks for your patience.

Well, it's just fair to let Lenny make that decision.

Also, more selfishly:grin-devilish: I am definitely not anywhere near 100% sure that they will refund it (the website clearly says they won't, even though the lady on the phone said they will), and if they do it will be minus the registration fee. So my expected value for going for the refund is probably getting close to $50 anyway... might as well let somebody get a cheap entry if all else is equivalent.

I am REALLY looking forward to make it out to Derby one of these years. I am also sorry I couldn't go!

Not a problem bud, if they will give you a refund then take it. Thanks though for looking out for us players on here, walking down to pay my entry now.:wink:
