i started trading, buying and selling with Dean in the 80's

we did the majority of our biz over the phone describing our wares and attendant/perceived values as best we could

sometimes he got the best of it, sometimes i did

we were both reasonable and strived to make things square if someone wasn't satisfied once we had cues in hand

i can attest that he was generous to a fault

it doesn't surprise me that he was easy to contact and offered a refund to buyers

I haven’t played either but that feeling of playing is starting to creep up on me.

When I start back, it will be different now. I’m 55 and know my way around pool. But I’m not going to go as hard as I have previously.

Should be fun. Here in Los Angeles pool is gone. Hopefully in Florida there will be some pool where I end up.

pool is probably better in Fl, many players N of the mason-dixon line go there to winter

have a plan for what you and yours will do if it appears a hurricane is in your future

As always, you say things well. Dean was wrong on the jackpot deal. He made a move to help a friend overlooking the people he wasn't treating right. Having had a good look at a schmelke I know that corners are cut. I would be pissed if I bought one with it represented as something else. Still, I miss Dean, his stories, and the color he brought to the forum.

While I don't care for some other things, I have to wonder how many people are playing with schmelke blanks and don't know it? Many a cue smith uses their blanks to build custom cues. If a cue smith isn't building his own blanks I think a customer deserves to know but they are probably getting a better blank from schmelke than most cue builders can build themselves.

They don't come up for sale because the vast majority were bought back by Dean

I posted photos of a cue that was falling apart, Dean had sold it just 2 weeks prior. Owned one, held one, touched one and laughed at it. Dean bought it back quickly to shut me up.

Obsessive behavior in Hawaii shouldn't be your benchmark.

What put the nails in the coffin was his repeated lying and vitriol on the matter. It wasn't just "these are Jack Potter cues" and then a walkback.

Dean also brought up Paul Drexler as his advisor on the fraud, blamed and insulted many posters.

Should have just offered a buyback immediately and left it alone. How can people be upset with that kind of customer service?

Instead, he picked a hill of lies to die on.

I talk to buyers and sellers all the time. Plenty of general and secondhand knowledge. He also bought one from me, so I have personal and firsthand knowledge of the process.

I don't sit at home in my Depends smashing my keyboard on forums about my inane opinions like you do.

That is not cool, and as I have said befor, Never saw JackPot in person. But the owners likr the Eye of Hawaii live em, and non at present are for sale.

I talked to him a lot back in the day. Never liked his used-car dealer attitude in selling cues. Full of shit half the time. The facts of the Jackpot caper have been covered ad nauseam. Apparently you either missed them or couldn't comprehend them, probably a bit of both. He lied and then tried to cover his tracks. Keep defending him. Says a lot for you pal.
