Barry:
Most of my most cherished pool memories come from your US OPEN. Not sure if watching McCready gambling with Tony Watson all night long, driving back to my hotel at 4am is my favorite. Maybe it was watching Gabe win (which was prob the pool equivalent to the U.S. beating Russia in hockey in the Olympics -- not many in the crowd knew who he was at that time). Maybe it was watching Earl vs. Efren. It could also be watching Evgeny Stalev tear up a bunch of people in 1-hole at the room. I'll also never forget that fingerless guy working the shell game on one of the tables -- working it like God.
Honestly, too many fond memories to list. In the midst of a crap storm and getting straight-armed, I want you to know there are far more people who love what you and your daughter do and appreciate your efforts. Many people prob have little idea how much cash you have to tie up before the event even runs. I was there in 2001 just after 9/11. I remember the atmosphere in the room and the speech you gave. I'm sure you took a beating during that tournament; yet, you came through and paid for everything.
Anyways, I'm just a fan who loves your tournament. The U.S. Open 9-ball is one of America's "MAJORS," without a doubt. Thank you for everything.
