Dechaine just chopped up Busty, but he's not even considered for MC.

Take a look who's winning all the money in the tournaments on U.S. soil. Filipino players come over here and dominate! Only Shane has a chance of stopping them from winning everything.

Yep...and it ain't gonna change anytime soon with the likes of Aranas, De Luna, etc. coming here. The Philipinne Islands is a factory for quality pool players.

Bergman question...??

Somebody clue me in here. When the 16 were announced he was like 3/4. Now he's not even in final 8? What transpired here?? What'd i miss?

Regarding skill level, Busty is older, for sure, but the match with Mike when I started this thread was no contest. Mike would have beat Shane the way he was playing.

Regarding the personalities, how did Earl stay on the team for 3 decades? How do the NFL/NBA/MLB primadonnas stay on the team?

Maybe the function of the coach should be to reel in all the egos and personalities that the best players often have, and make them work to the team's advantage?

Regarding dogging it, all of the USA's players pretty much dogged it for the past 10 years. That's why we lost so bad every year. Mike wasn't the only one.

Earl got under the opponent's skin not his own teammates. I was told that when MD was on the team his own 'mates didn't want to be around him. How much of that is accurate is open for talk but i've heard it from more than one source.

Bergman was at the first boot camp in Iowa, but didn’t go to the next one in Vegas in July. I don’t think a reason for missing it was ever given, but the result was that he was out of the running. (And I don’t think a ranking was ever given, but it’s pretty clear he’d be on the team if he was in the group.)

What was that stat I recently saw...something like Mike is the ONLY player in the world with a winning record vs SVB? I’ll try to find it.

here is the stat...

For starters, each player is guaranteed $10,0000. The players have the opportunity to represent their country which I think is cool. Learn from some of the best coaches. Experience international competition with some of the best players. But the real value is the exposure the players get for playing for the Mosconi Cup team. An astute player, will take this exposure and turn into sponsorship opportunities, lessons, exhibitions, etc, etc, etc.

But again, what's in it for the players?

None of these guys market themselves.

Mike had a couple of chances in the MC and sh-t all over himself. He just couldn't handle the pressure. Maybe he's matured beyond that now but he will have to pay his dues to get another chance.

Shane sh-ts all over himself in MC every year. So does the rest of the team.

Interesting that Matchroom's June 12 news release on their site shows 16 players on the initial list. But essentially the same release posted on AzB with the same date lists 14 players (without McMinn or Saez): http://www.azbilliards.com/news/sto...-mosconi-cup-initial-team-usa-squad-is-named/. I thought McMinn was added to the group later, and I wasn't aware of Saez being in the group.

[And I believe Deuel has been on the team 9 times, not 10.]
