For those with 314 shafts, how much deflection do you adjust to make this shot ? On my regular shaft, i adjust about 1 diamond on this shot. How about for the 314 and other LD shafts ?

i know there are easier ways to make the CB land in that area, but lets stick with the amount of deflection aspects needed for this shot...

EDIT :

Lets say you want to CB to end here in this spot.....

314 squirt allowance

2/5 of an inch off the contact point unless you are elevated somewhat then swerve will be more involved and reduce it by around half to 1/5 of an inch.

Im guessing you dont have bih behind the line and are just asking about the shot as diagrammed.

I dont aim shots like you are suggesting. With a 314-2, while behind the shot, I picture the right edge of my tip at the center line of the cb, then visually carry the tip out to the ob. Without being at a table to look at this shot normally, to be able to tell you exact alignment for sure, I would line up for inside english with my tip pointed dead center of the ob. Its more about building the squirt into the alignment than allowing for it with ld shafts.

Regular shafts I would aim high center ball to make it, then bhe for the high inside.

Not sure if I explained that well enough, or if I just confused you........

I tried your shot exactly as set up a bunch of times. This was the closest I could get the CB to the desired target. I aimed it like I was aiming the OB right in the pocket. In my case, the squirt and swerve cancelled out exactly. The left english was just a hair. Any more, and the CB would go closer to the side pocket.

I'm using a 314-2.

Thanks !!!

When the CB went to the side pocket, was your aim the same ?

much appreciated ....

Yes, when I had a bit more english, the aim was the same.

Let me clarify my terminology, so we are on the same page. If I was to hit this particular shot with center high from the rail, I'm visualizing a certain CB/OB overlap. When I used a bit of inside spin, I was visualizing this same overlap. And, this overlap pointed to the corner pocket in both cases.

All that said, its not that common for me for them to cancel out (squirt and throw). I'm usually favoring one of the two on most shots.

Finally, this is how I perceived the shot. No guarantee my stroke and eyesight is straight:) I'll try the same shot with a standard deflection cue and report back tomorrow.
