DELETED POST?!?! Mike Janis & Viking Cue tour????

I'm talking about you, not him. What are you referring to in your previous post?

Libel involves saying things that are not true. Don't see any of that.

He has not reconciled what he told watchez on the phone with what he is saying here about the td fees, added money, auction etc etc.

T'man must have post-orrhea; he just can't stop. Please give it a rest - I keep coming to this thread expecting to find something of interest; haven't really found anything yet.

Mike J. runs tournaments. This helps the game, helps players find a venue to compete, and helps him financially. What's the difference whether we pay Mike J. to play in one of his tournaments (GREAT EVENTS by the way), or pay T'man to play in his hall?? Surely no one is that interested in the complete financial statistics of T'man and Mike - surely no one would realistically want to post all of their financial info on the internet. As Mark Twain said, "there are 3 kinds of lies - lies, damn lies, and statistics." Perhaps you guys should move to FinancialAnalysis.com, debate this thing with the accountant geeks. This thread sucks.

After you've lost something and you are looking for it, (car keys for example) have you ever heard the statement "it was in the last place I looked?"

You must be the guy the keeps looking.

there are many of us out there that share the same feelings! This is getting childish.

Is this not an answer to Teacherman's annoying continuous question?

This was back on Page 16.::

From Mike Janis quote "As far as events and payouts go it's real simple just as it states on our flyers.
The total entry fee is $37. $2 goes to the NUTS fee and $10 goes to table time and registration fees. That means that exactly $25 from each player goes into the prize fund. Using the Murphy's event as an example that was previously mentioned it broke down to this.

46 players in the event with 4 of them being free entry fees to the Women and JR players. That means $25 X 42 went into the prize fund along with the $1,000 added. This made the total prize fund of $2,050 for the event. 42 X $25 = $1,050 + $1,000 added = $2,050. The player auction brought in a total of $920 after the 10% organization fee.
The complete payouts were as follows as taken from the actual payout form from the event.
1st Place was Bruce Berrong $600T + $450A
2 Jim Jennings $400T + $250A I'll skip the names to save time.
3 $300T + $150A
4 $200T + $70A
5/6 $100 ea = $200
7/8 $75 ea = $150
9-12 $50 ea = $200

This was a total pay out of $2,970.

I also noticed that the AZ page lists the payouts incorrectly.
Mike listed them as:
Complete Payouts:
1st Bruce Berrong $1050
2nd Jim Jennings $650
3rd Billy Tyler $450
4th BJ Ussery $275
5th/6th Steve Cox, Johnny Carson $100
7th/8th Ron Park, Brian White $75
9th/12th Chris Bishop, Kevin Wishall, Chuji Angles, Mike Janis $50

It seems like a complete answer to me.

I'm not in this thread to argue who makes what or join in any kind of argument, my question is not meant to QUESTION anyones finances etc.

The listings of money there include money paid to the players from the calcutta. Did these players have to Buy half of themselves to recieve this money? Or did the players automaticly get thier half of the calcutta? What was the reward for the guys that actually bought the players? The rail birds?

I just want to know how money from the calcutta gets into the players hands. The way it looks here is that the players got back all the calcutta money. Is that right? and if it is, did they all have to BUY themselves?

And why would a local hacker want to pay a $20 membership fee? Oh, maybe from the experience they will get 4 balls better and quit their job, go on the road, play a few out of state Viking Tourneys to get the full benefit of their membership and be home busted in 5 weeks.
Thanks for the laugh!

i have to say, that it is a fact that alot of players at a tournament will either:

not eat

or

eat very little

most people don't like to eat much during a tournament for fear of becoming sluggish.

also, some people leave the hall to find cheaper food, as its well known that poolplayers aren't exactly weathly, and will try to save as much money as possible.

next time you're at a tourney(and i dont' mean the weekly local one) look around, pay attention to the people actually playing the tournament. you'll see mostly water being drank and you won't see people eating. if they don't do that, then the owner doesn't make money.

i'm not taking sides, just giving my opinion from what i've witnessed.

although, i think that there is something that can be done here. during the tournament, why not either offer specials, or just plain cut the price a little for the duration of the tourney.

i don't own a hall, so i don't know much about it, but it seems that there has to be a logical way around the problems that teacherman has brought up.

thanks

VAP

Depending upon the pool hall, I might leave to find EDIBLE food that might actually be served the same day. I've played in a few places where you'll regret the food for a couple of days and the service was nonexistent....

If PH owners want people to eat and drink in their establishments they should provide decent food at reasonable prices and tolerable service. If they don't want to do that then they don't have a gripe if people leave to eat or just don't spend money while they're there.
