Hi all!

I'm in NYC/Manhattan for a couple days looking for some practice sets ($50-$100/set nine or tenball)

I could also play at Steinway tomorrow 7/26

I played Alaska last time I was here (2 years ago) but I don't have his contact.

PM me if you'd like to play or know someone you could send my way!!!

Thanks!!

I would think you could find all the action you want at Amsterdam billiards

I have to disagree here. Amsterdam is not known for having much action. That said, it's the best poolroom in NYC for a social game and it has a fantastic bar if you crave a drink or two.

Heck @justnum might be able to give some pool lessons while you're there!

...bump

If you would like to see a full presentation on the latest educational applications using billiards technology let me know. Here is a quick outline of my presentation. Each of the presentations has a follow along where you can interact with the educational application and develop your own version.

-(1 min) How to make custom cue sleeves and custom cue decals.
-(20 seconds) Designing physics experiments with billiards equipment for middle and high schoolers
-(1 min) Special effects for pool productions including an info ticker, custom graphics, compositing and general video editing.

For more advanced enthusiasts:
(10 seconds) Programming custom tournament software
(10 seconds) Creating pool simulations

I also play 14.1.

If you plan to shoot at ABC on weeknight call ahead and RSVP a table.

Not living in the NY area any longer, but I would think that Steinway in Queens would be a better choice for a gambling game than Manhattan- as a walk - in. From what I have heard lately, though, stay out of the subway system, esp. at night- carrying cash etc.

Wow. NYC prices i guess. I pay $4/hr during the day here in Tulsa.
The price is likely a little more, its been a couple of years since I was there. You could also rent a table all night after ten, with a few players that worked out cheaper. It seems I need to go to Manhattan a couple times a year and once in awhile I will have time for a little fun. It certainly is not a city to visit if you are wanting to save money.

Paying just south of a C-note for a couple of hours of pool and a beer is worth it for the experience of the place but not something I want to do with frequency.

Josh is rated against Kazakis.

Check out his match.

you would know better than me.
isnt this the room hunter lumbardo and jennifer berretta play out of?

IIRC around $12 an hour during the week per person. It was a little more for the weekends.
Two years ago I was in NYC visiting my two sons at Christmas - we went to Amsterdam during the day- it ws $12 an hour -PER PERSON! $36 an hour for three to play- a bit hefty when the old man is picking up the check:) We went over to East side Billiards - also in NYC a few days later- the photo is here of the three of us- not much less $$ either- but we had a great time!

I bought them some gift cards to Amsterdam when I left town, realizing what that had to spend to play in a decent room in NYC.

One of my sons is down here now, we just left a room after 2 hours of play- total cost was $10- Amsterdam would have been $48- big difference, but no comparison in the two rooms- Amsterdam hands down.

Yes its nice to find a deal in the city. I have a daughter and future son in law that would go to Eastside weekly. I have been there a handful of times and although it was not a respected room by many it did have a cool vibe.

Unfortunately, I believe it was a Covid casualty. There were quite a few regulars that I would see when I stopped in, I bet many of those are missing the room that was in their neighborhood.
