I heard yesterday that the 2009 Derby City Classic will be held at Caesars instead of The Executive West. I had a room reserved at The Executive West and when i talked to them to cancel it , they had already done so. They also verified that the tournament will not be there in 2009 and they were pretty sure it would be at Caesars. I do not know if the dates will be the same but the rates are way more than The Executive West. For the 16th through the 24th, Friday to Saturday will be over $1400 not including tax. Caesars has no information on whether or not the tournament will be held at there hotel. So all of you with a rewards card better get out and use it.

Greg Sullivan has been posting here and in the DCC forum about the progress of the negotiations. His last post was back on June 2nd, and at that time he nearly had a deal signed with Caesar's Indiana. I think it was posted back in February that the tournament would probably not be at the Executive, although at that time it was thought to be a possibility for housing if the event went into the Fairgrounds.

In the Bill Gates World of "money is no object", Diamond would have purchased the Executive West and kept everything the same. The experience of staying in that historic hotel with all it's character (and characters) and charm can not be duplicated.

This year's DCC will not be the same, but there's still a chance it could be even better! I'd love to see Bucktooth or Fatboy rocking and rolling at Caesars blackjack table. :)

I live in Vegas about half the time and you'll never see me in a Casino playing, I say "playing" cause it aint gambling, those joints are stone cold theives that destroy lives, I have seen that happen far to often here in Vegas.

If Tooth had any gamble he would flip a coin with me. :p

That is why none of our names are on the buildings, the house win most of the time in the long run. Love to see the photo of some player who hit a slot for 10K. They never post the losers photos who lost 1K in the same slot.:sorry:

will the casino draw players away from matching up on the table if it is held there?

I think it will draw some action away from pool for the ones who play poker.. Some may even go off on other games and not be able to or want to gamble in pool. Others disagree but that's what I think..

I feel the move was a horrible decision. But That's just me. and with the rooms costing more at the new place, That will be trouble for some with how everything is today.

If I recall correctly wasn't it something like between $600 and $800 to room for the whole event at the Exec? If your numbers are correct for the new place that's almost double.

Unless you lived close by the travel to the event was never cheap to begin with and now it will cost more. Can't see how that is a good change.

In my opinion the move is not good either, the Executive is perfect for an event like this, but I think the move could not be avoided. The remodel on the hotel will lose a lot of space used for the tournament I heard. I also heard that it may be held at the convention center. Im gonna keep playing the powerball and hope for the best.

Also, How about they always had a room with tables available at all hours for action. Will the new place have that or do you figure they will know if they shut down the pool tables for the night people will make their way to the other tables for some gamble.

I kinda dread it being in a casino. I like to gamble in a lot of ways and I'm sure I'm not alone. May be a lot more gamblers sent home early. Or maybe the casino will take a hit that week. O well I'm going regardless. I would like to know for sure so I can make arrangements.

well lets see

well alot of the action is people under 21 and they cant play in the casino! and if they still come the elder statesmen will still try to prey on the less expierienced with some weight:grin: i think! and greg has worked long and hard to build this event!!!i say event becouse lets face it, its way more than just another tournament! lets just go open minded into the "new" derby and see what happens! if we continue to support the derby it will be ok i think! i know if they held it in a waffle house parking lot i would be there! and i think alot of people feel the same way! i cant wait till the derby!

When I talked to the hotel they said they post all their events on their website so you can check it to see the exact dates when it is decided.

Why don't we do like Greg asked and wait a little while and let him work out the details and see what it looks like before we start complaining. You know it makes no sense for him to mess it up after all it's his event. Besides it had to be moved because of changes at the Executive Hotel and I know Greg well enough to know he will try to make it work.
