Where did you see this?

Dee Adkins told me that his son Riley won't be able to compete because kids won't be allowed at Derby now. There is a Junior derby tournament this coming year like there was this year, but it is at a pool room 10 mins away. I am booked to do a show for that event and was told by the organizers that they couldn't hold the event at derby because kids can't be there.

Since the casino was on the boat, technically kids could be in the other areas. Now that they are bringing the casino in the building my guess is there will be security checks just to get in the building. That's how the casinos are here in Ohio.

I just msg'd Diamond and they have applied for a waiver and are waiting for reply. As of right now they aren't allowed in as you stated.

This makes sense as to why kids won't be allowed at derby now.

Yes, but it’s a shame. Among the most memorable matches ever played at the Derby was when the then 14 year old Fedor Gorst tested Alex Pagulayan to the max in a double hill 9-ball thriller ultimately won by Alex. At the time, I had never even heard of Gorst. If memory serves, Skyler Woodward reached the Bank Pool finals as a minor, too.

Watching the young, emerging stars of the game has always been a thrill for this fan.

The article has nothing about the pool tournament. Just says a new casino opening on dry land. 100,000sq/ft expanion that includes a new casino. About it.

Yeah Dee told me that too. I hope they are able to allow the kids in because seeing the top names and getting to interact with them is a big deal for the youth.

I guess we'll see what happens. I will see Dee tonight at a benefit tournament so I can ask him to see if he has heard anything.

ELIZABETH, Ind. (WDRB) -- Horseshoe Southern Indiana is saying goodbye to the boat.

After more than 20 years on the Ohio River, the casino is moving to a new facility on dry land. So Caesars Entertainment is throwing a Bon Voyage Party for the riverboat on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The boat was originally called the Glory of Rome, when it opened on the river in 1998. It will now be sold.

An invitation sent out to guests invites people to the goodbye celebration that will have food, drinks and fireworks. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends with fireworks at 8:30 p.m.

People post videos of kids doing some really amazing things. Music for instance. There are kids under 12 that absolutely RIP on the guitar! However, I don't want to take them on the road, I don't want to see them jamming up on stage at a show. A tournament like the Derby should be for adults. Like buying beer at the liquor store, children can wait, and so can daddy to enjoy it with them.

Yeah, except for that whole thing where Wu won two world championships before 18, but... I digress. :rolleyes

As long as its not in the casino proper they should get a waiver. In Vegas sub-21's can walk-thru a casino as long as they're with someone over 21.
