Derby City Ten Ball Invitational

"If a backer calls and says he will not be paying a players entry feei is it "RIGHT" that the player is just dropped from the tourney without being contacted?"

Yes. If I am a backer and buy a spot, it's my spot. I can decide to put in any other player if I choose. If I want to forfiet the spot, it is my option to do so. Some people just don't get it. The players exist because of backers and sponsors. Pool players constantly spit on backers and chop them up but when everything doesn't go the players' way they immediately cry that they are being taken advantage of.

Thanks for the explanation. My bad. Just did not know that an invitational tourney worked this way. WOW!! So a backer can buy a spot in the Derby City 10 Ball tourney and put in anybody he wants?? Double WOW!! A new meaning to the word "INVITATIONAL".

Now you know. Don't you feel good, you're a little smarter than you were before. :groucho:

Maybe I should have prefaced "anybody" but the purpose of the tournament from the beginning was to showcase some of the best talents in the world and add money to a long race tournament to really see great pool. I do not believe Jay would allow me to buy a spot and play myself, but I do not know very many of the players who are actually paying their own entry fee either.

Jay,

Thanks for putting in your time and running this. Should be a great event.

Yes, Jay, I do feel good and smarter knowing how you run tourneys. I hope others see the same things I see in your remarks.

Have a nice day and I hope the "short buses" are on time for you. :))

+1

(And thanks for fading those who don't get it, and still participating here.)

I did read the whole way through before I replied too. :D Spending time with true pool fanatics, involved in the industry and not those who just spew uninformed, "I think therefore it's right" has a way of renewing your faith.
