Design for a 'custom'

Hi cuemakers!

I am finalizing some design thoughts and am ready to pull the trigger on having a custom made. It will be a particular Davis fullsplice blank, finished into a sweet bumperless cue. I do not think there will be any inlays.

Are there any makers who will inset rings [like a Bushka ring] to maintain the fullspliceness? I'd like to get rings in all 4 butt locations [and matching shafts if possible, depending on the maker].

Also bumperless is prettymuch a requirement. I have some ideas for joint and buttcap, but would like to discuss more with someone, whether through email or a phone call.

Let me know a rough idea on pricing for finishing a Davis blank and the extras, and if you are interested in taking this commission.

I would recommend finding someone local to you. Nothing you are asking for sounds diffilcult for a competent builder.

And Second of all, I'm probably incompetent in some eyes
But how does one place rings at all 4 positions on a full-splice butt? Cut the butt at the ring positions, then bore and dowel it back together with the rings installed on the dowel? Or cut a groove for the rings and glue them in as half-circles?
Or none of the above and I shouldn't have to ask such a simple question?

I suppose you can inlay the ring blocks but the border trims ?
I really don't know.

It isn't that hard, you need to use some ebony and no metal in the rings. Balabushka did it at least once. You just split the rings and fit them into the grooves. The only thing is that it has to be done about perfectly.
