Diamond and Bad Boy Billiards

I have no dog in this fight. I like Glen and his work. I like Diamond and Greg, and they make a great product. I don't "negotiate" on my fees either...for exhibitions or lessons. That said, I'm thinking that metmot was more pissed because he couldn't get any straight answers out of anybody, even though he tried several times, over several months (and probably thought he was getting the 'runaround'). He likely thought he could 'show up' and maybe save a few bucks. That's not unusual...although it appears that it was not going to happen with this product. Somewhere the communication stream broke down. Who is at fault is less the issue, than why did it happen at all. Every business (and businessperson) should strive to keep in communication with their customers (or potential customers). You can never please everybody, all the time...but imo you should still try! It's just good business sense.

I agree 100% with you Scott, as I don't have any dog in this fight either, but I do know Diamond DOES answer the phone if called;)

Glenn, you are probably the most knowledgeable person in the universe regarding how to make a table (Diamond or otherwise) play right. I would never dispute that. I'm sorry if I have a burr in my saddle, (I love that, "burr in my saddle" lol) but I have an issue with buying a brand new Diamond pro-am in December of '09 and shortly thereafter reading that my rails need to be upgraded! WTF! I'm not very happy regarding Diamond and their customer service. I love my table, but I'm not very happy with the schmoes who sell their tables! Just sayin'. I'm sorry I went off on you. If you want further info about how Diamond's customer service is ridiculously inept, shoot me a p.m.

Well, like I said, Diamond didn't make the change on their own, I kind of pushed Diamond into the change, so I take the blame for that. The good thing though, is that when I get up to Washington State, if you want to hook up with me, I can upgrade your table to play just like the new Diamonds do...I just so happen to know how to do that:grin:

And...the change in the rails didn't take place until the US Open last year in Sept, 2010. So, at the time you bought your table, Diamond had no plans on changing the way their tables played, until May of 2010, after I rebuilt the GC1's at Malarkey's Pool hall in Tacoma, WA...and made it public, that's the first pool hall I worked in...in over 20 years.

And, for what it's worth, Diamond has some growing pains as well, trying to keep up with sales in areas that they've never been in before, and 2,500 miles a way is not just a hop, skip & jump from Diamond's backyard, so I do agree, service issues up in that area are lacking for use of a better word.

I agree with you too Scott. You were able to read through my frustration and spot the real issues. I own a service business here on the coast for the last 20 years and know that folks want straight answers. Your car lot analogy was kind of ironic as that's exactly the kind of crap you expect trying to buy a car. I have no idea why, if the price is the price is the price, Diamond would remove it from their web site. Makes no sense at all to me. I brought 8k with me up there and thought I was covered. Had been planning for months and excited to get the tables. I simply wasn't in the mood to go round up another 800 bucks to cover the new price and it pissed me off.

As for Jessie's lights she didn't know enough to look at them and notice they were ancient T-12 bulb models. That was my observation which I shared with her. I do know she's getting impatient with the rail situation on the two "red" tables. And you're correct, she's a sweet lady.

Hey Glenn. My table has already had new 860 HR installed by a local fellow that you recommended. (work was done in September) Would you be interested in updating the rails? Thanks in advance...

The price for the Smart Table has been $4,100.00 since August 1st. Before that the price was $4,000.00. This price is for tournament used equipment and it is the price as if we were selling 10 or more tables on a single order. That $4,000.00 price had not changed in more than 5 years.

Rik sold at least 5 tables at the Lincoln City event that I am aware of.

I do care about treating people fairly. I am sorry if you feel that we did not take care of you. If I did not care I would not have replied to your post.

Paul, you should also mention that that price is for a quanitity price of 10 tournament used tables.

Hey, Glen. I've got a 2008 Diamond Pro Am, 9-ft. table. By what I just read here, it's not going to play like the tables being used in this year's U.S. Open. Exactly what difference in play is there, and if I want to get the rails upgraded, how much would it cost me to have you come to Phoenix, AZ and change them?
