Diamond table makeover

I had table mechanic Jack Zimmerman (JZMechanix)over today to do a makeover on my 9 foot pro-am. He put new pocket facings on narrowing them to 4.5", recovered the table with Simonis 860HR and releveled it. He did an amazing job and the table turned out perfect. Also, Jack was very professional and I recommend him to anyone for table work. The following are before and after pics of the pockets as well as a link at the bottom of the page to the rest of the pictures I took throughout the process.

I'm a little confused  ? Did you request wider pockets when you originally had your Diamond set-up? I thought 4.5" corners were standard for a Diamond?

Beautiful table and pool room by the way!

It was a Derby City tournament table from about 8-10 years ago and had 4.75" pockets

Jack did our tables at our union hall, and they turned out fantastic! Ill be getting a table (hopefully) in the near future, and Ill be having Jack set my table up too . I still kick myself in the ass for not buying that richard black you have in your avatar! lol! Nice table man! Enjoy it!

Diamond actually has other pocket specs than the one you mention. My friend has a Diamond Pro table with larger pockets than my table, which is 4.5" corners. If you look on the underside of the rails when disassembled, you will see the letter code for the pocket spec. My friend's is an "E" coded pocket. Perhaps RKC can enlighten us.

Yeah Joe, I saw the thread regarding the tables for your hall and he and I talked about it yesterday as well. Jack did a superb job on mine as well. I would recommend his work any day. And as far as the Richard Black goes, you SHOULD be kicking yourself for not buying it. I got it for a song right after Richard did a total refinish so it is mint and I sent it back to him so he could add a leather wrap. With the straight grain maple forearm, by far the best hitting cue I've experienced and I've probably hit over 50 different customs...

Table looks great.

Do you notice any difference between the Tournament balls and the Super Pros?

Not as far as playability. I've only had them for a few weeks so time will tell if they wear better or cause less wear on the cloth

That twin looks pretty damn good too! I still like the coco one better though. One of these days I'll get a look at it in person! Lol! Nice cues, and a nice table man. Have fun with it all!

I know Jack and his work. You have one of the top mechanics in the country!!! IMO. Jack is also one of the best people I've met in the billiards service industry. I had the pleasure of working along side Jack at the Alsip seminar, where he played a key roll in demonstrating the lay out and indexing of Simonis cloth. He's another one of those King Cobra disciples.

Nice work as always Jack...
