Did anyone watch the IPT on Versus last night? What did you think of the show? Was it similar to the KOH series? Or were there many differences?

Thanks.

I thought it was great. The technical quality was superb. They chose to only highlight two matches in this one - Archer vs. O'Sullivan and Strickland vs. Gerta. Different approach than last time, but I thought it was very entertaining.

Cheers,
RC

I watched last night for the 1st time.

It was different, and I don't mean that negatively. It was just different and I am all for anything different as far as pool goes.

The players looked sharp and very clean cut. The venue looked huge and very nice.

I like listening to MS as he makes a lot of good points. Kt however sounds like th Jerry Jones of pool.

Both Ronnie O and Archer looked a bit nervous and uncomfortable with the table, but that will all get better. I had never seen Mr, O'Sullivan before, putting balls in the pocket is definitely not a problem for this fellow. Tremendous talent.

I thought the Gerda vs Earl was an intresting matchup for TV. Even though Earl won, it showed just how far the ladies have come in the past few years.
Some shots missed surprised me, but, pool is a very easy game from the living room.

I wish the people in booth would talk more about what is going through the players head vs what they should do here.

Overall, it was good.

caught part of it channel surfing

It wasn't listed to search for it so I found the show just surfing. I liked the overall quality of the show and mostly found it less annoying than early broadcasts. However the constant comment "that is a missable shot" got old in a hurry. As an expert in the area of missed shots I can tell you they are all missable, on any table!

I'll catch some of the later broadcasts of Vegas which are listed. It's pool, even fairly recent pool, and production values are good.

i thought it sucked. the commentating from sigel was a broken record, you see that's the tight pockets,oh he likes it you see he's smiling. you see that's the slow nap cloth. oh he's a good player, give me a break a monkey could comment better than sigel. and as far as something new fresh and different, it's more of the same old same old, i thought it was 8-ball with disco lights and a worn out record commenter.

Don't hold back Bernie, how do you really feel?

It was about as good as pool can get. KT needs to get out of the booth. If anything, 8 ball appears to be too easy, but as we endlessly heard from MS, it is much more difficult than 9 ball. Why have the women been able to sell their product to ESPN on a regular basis? Because their organized and pulling as one unit. The men will never learn. Kudos to Johm Schmidt for his great play at the open after coming to this forum and looking for someone to put him in the tournament.

Nah, I missed it but...

it didn't even come on the time that they said it would. I missed it on 09/30, but list said it'd be on today, from 4:00-5:00, or something like that. What gives?!?!?

The Women DONT sell their product to ESPN unfortunately. The Women pay all the production costs and then give it to ESPN and work out some kinda vague deal on the advertising. They started this in hopes of building interest and the Sport. It's been going on a long time like this- too long but at least they are staying afloat.

One guy at the Open was going off about the negative effect of this-that ESPN now will never pay for pool. I dont know if he is right but it all seems very odd to me.

Loved it, seemed better than the KOTH coverage, I liked Earl's interview:D and I think this series will draw even more viewers than the KOTH.

I sure hope they do more with the players and other things outsid eof just the game coverage. The way this is done it should help keep people interested longer. Showing pool in a weekly series is by far the best I have seen unless it ever goes live. Is this the first time pool has been seen every week in a series like this?

I'm actually looking forward to the next show.

In just about all sports, the men have led the way. A viable men's tour will help the ladies as well. Thanks for the info on the ladies buying time on ESPN. I diidn't know that.

i guess what i'm saying is i am so damn tired of sigel's commentating, who died and left him boss? oh, yeah, kevin.,i forgot, my god, can't sigel just be satisfied with being the greatest human that ever played the game, by the way i don't think he is but he said he was, anyhow, the commentating is more of the same old same old, yes i'm sour, yes i want to commentate, i would be freakin great!,but they are scared of me they think i may say the word ****,well i would try to clean it up.

Vegas tournament on Versus tonight (Monday)

The Vegas tournament is on Versus today at 5 pm CDT. (Monday)

I liked the coverage. I like it a little better the the KOH coverage as well. They picked up in round 2 this time. The camera work was awesome. That boom camera really makes it feel like you are right at the table.

I liked how they only showed some racks from 2 matches rather then 1 or 2 racks from 4 different matches. It let you focus more on what was happening. Johnny Archer had one hell of a run out.

Cant wait until next weeks airing.

(Sigel also seemed less like an ass this time around. I assume this is because he got knocked out in round 1 and the world now knows he is no longer half the player he was. Efren sorta humbled him.)
