Nick i thought i explained it to you before? i said if your as irritating as you have been on here and your pms and on the phone, i don't think it would be a good thing for us to hook up in person :) I like pain in my ass and big mouths :) and i was playing a friend (10 in the series) tonight who plays in the 404 series that john mora(11 in the series) plays in up here and he held my own up against his. I shared my opinion and you guys didn't like it so I'm headed to my local manbar.

Geez guys, stay on topic or get a room... Talk about hijacking a thread, wtf...

That is all.......

This is ridiculous! You guys on this board think earl is a pool god. He won all his championships when it was mostly american players playing and the fields are half as strong as they are now. He is as good as he always was now but the competition has gotten a lot better. He has the prettiest game/stroke to watch but that's not good enough to win now days, him and archer are now second tier players..ijs

Not to create a conflict but if u ask any top player from then or now they will all say the same..Earl Strickland is probably the best 9 ball player to ever play the game..9 ball..I dont hear many disagreeing...

You have been one of the most annoying posters on AZ for a long time but it was mostly harmless. Very pathetic to see you insulting people with no cause, and for all the wrong reasons.

But i'll also add that this is, has been and continues to be a problem. When somebody starts breaking soft, and running racks (not saying that is exactly what happened here), almost invariably there is sniveling from the player in the chair.

I've said it before: pool players need to learn to sit down and shut up when their opponent is actually doing what they are supposed to (ie play well). This is a very serious problem we have in pool, and im not sure why. What is a "soft" break anyway. I mean it is just totally absurd. What if 3 balls go in, and nothing passes the middle of the table. Soft break. I mean cmon let's use some logic. Soft break rules should be ousted immediately. Excuse the offtoipicness :)

how has he done in his "best game" in the last ten years?

How about winning the 2010 steve mizerak championship with players like DAZ who he beat, rodney morris who he beat, shane, shannon daulton, shawn putnum, dennis hatch, and a pile of other champs. And he beat them all at 10 ball so he might still be able to play a little.

I've had enough of Champ. I don't serve the red too often.

Champ, go pound sand and enjoy the red rep.

Uhhhhhhmmuuhhhhhmmm....... Buddy Hall.

Earl was one of my favorites because he was so aggressive and was an incredible shot maker. But Buddy's cue ball was so good he rarely ever had a tough shot and was boring to watch compared to Earl.

For years I asked every champion I seen to rate their top 5 9ball players they had ever seen play. The consensus was buddy, Keith, and then Earl. Earl certainly won more big tourneys but Buddy and Keith were too busy getting in the grease....

Earl didn't play all those guys. His road to to the tournament win was as follows:

1. Bye
2. Mike Barbagallo 9-4
3. Rodney Morris 9-2
4. Pierre Palmari 9-2
5. Mika Immonen 9-6
6. Darren Appleton 9-8
7. Shawn Putnam 9-5
8. Shawn Putnam 11-6

Still pretty tough- especially Morris, Mika, and Appleton

I wasn't saying he beat them all but that tourny is tuff...and i guess those four main matches were against chumps...Earl is a nut but he can dab it still.
