Did you play pool today??

Started playing when I came to college...

Freshman year: all day, everyday
Sophomore year: part of the day, some days
Junior (this) year: whenever I don't have homework or not with my girlfriend = NEVER

=( lol

Pretty much the same every week....

Sunday: Me and my g/f's day off together. No pool. Ever. Don't even mention pool. What is pool?

Monday: Work during the day, try to match up with jackass at my home pool hall since it is his day off (he works there), get there around 5 or 6pm before someone else gets him. Usually win a few hundred but we've been going back and forth recently because I keep choking (ggrrrrrrrr). Leave around midnight.

Tuesday:
Tell girlfriend I am working late, then playing pool, my excuse being that she would already be asleep if I came home right after work(sounds good, right?), go to pool hall around 7 or 8, leave around midnight. Usually win whoever I am playing the cost of the table time.

Wednesday or Thursday: One day I come home and spend the night with the g/f, the other day I use the same excuse I used on Tuesday.

Friday: Stay home with girlfriend, get drunk as shit, BBQ something really good even if it is snowing outside, probably get stoned, watch Southpark (I own all of them!), pass out.

Saturday:
Same as Friday, might go into the office some during the day or do some housework/chores, begin consuming mass quantities of booze around 5pm.

Repeat weekly.

We got this house because it would fit a large table, works out well as this weekend I should be able to start moving a 5x10 snooker-converted-to-a-regular-4.5in pockets- pool table (sweet). Then my week will look like:

Sunday-Saturday: If I am not working, I am playing pool in the garage.

Then it will be:
MahnaMahna looking for new girlfriend.

Oops.....

Most weeks it is a routine to show up about an hour or so before I start sign ups (7pm) for the 2 weekly tournaments I run. I play for at least 30 minutes shooting drill shots.

Sundays I show up at 10am and get about 2 hours of practice before sign ups start at Noon. I usually get another 1-2 hours of practice during the tournament when the table next to the TD desk is open.

Mostly it takes me around 10 hours a week to get in around 4 hours of practice.

I haven't matched up in ages. Just no time. Tournament play is sparse also. I almost have to go out of town to play.

Hmmm...

I'll have to remember activity 3!!!!!

I think your going to have to demonstrate your "rain dance" since action walked through the door. I think everyone on the forum would welcome this demonstration as it wasn't even 12 hours after you posted that you got your wish. lol May I suggest You Tube? :p

I definately need to work on my rain dance...

I think I'm doin' it wrong, though, because everybody that shows up just snaps off everyone they play! Or you could say I do it too well because of the quality of player it conjurs up! Oh well, either way it needs work because the results aren't workin' out so well for my own personal economy! :p

If I put it on the stream on Sunday I'd have to make it a pay per view now that everyone knows it works so well!

I have played pool almost every day for the last 3 1/2 months. I can only remember missing one day. I have no table at home, so I usually go to my local pool room, or a buddy's house, or my local union hall. Some days I take my son, if he doesnt have baseball practice, but I usually go out at 9:30 or so, after my wife and son go to bed. I show up at the pool hall, buy a coke, and usually play on a 9' GC3. If I am struggling making shots, I jump on a Valley 7' table to build my confidence. I dont play in a league, and I have played many many nights alone. I will usually just practice 9 ball, or sometimes I will practice shape and english, or speed. I have been practicing inside-english here lately, and it is giving me hell, but I will get it. I might join a league next season, just to see how I match up against the rest of the world, lol. I have no time limit, usually they have to kick me out of the pool hall. I play 20-30 hours a week, sometimes more, sometimes a little less, but I play as much as my body will take. I am sore as hell right now, but a couple aleve and some dinner, and Im gonna go shooting again, I cant wait!

I haven't shot YET today. I will be here shortly. I try to shoot every day, I probably average about 12 to 15 hours a week. I'd like to shoot more than that but its hard to find time to do so. I work full time and spend about 2 hours a day on the road. I'll probably shoot for about a half hour tonight. Then I have to head to the bar for our end of the year singles tournament. I'd like to do well but then I'd have to be up till probably 2 AM then get back up for work at 4:30.

Too bad action took place and they were gone by the time I got there. So, I'm back to doing the rain dance that sam suggested.

I thought it would be interesting to find out what the typical pool playing experience is like for most here on AZ. I will start by telling you my typical day, which is much like the movie Ground Hog Day. Everyday I go to the poolroom and get on the tightest table in the room. I practice by myself, do some drills and then practice my break. This usually takes about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours, and by this time I'm usually bored to death (unless I'm practicing for something and really motivated) and end up talking and unscrewing my cue. This is how it goes every single day for me at my poolroom. If I'm really bored and somebody comes in then that may possibly bet $10 (nobody where I live plays for anything, PERIOD) and I have time to play, I'll offer them the nuts like I always do (sounds like Bartram) and try to out run the nuts. However, I'm usually the only person in the place that will bet a quarter besides the owner who never makes a move my way. So, what are your typical days like? Your practice sessions?

Sorry for the long post but I have been wondering what the average AZ poolplayers day is like while at the poolroom.
Well, I don't know if I am an average AZ member, but here is a snapshot of my pool life these days.

I am on the verge of quitting the in-house 8-ball APA when this session is over. Already posted another thread on that topic. That takes place at my homeroom on Monday nights. It is so crowded that if you are not in APA there is no point even going to play pool otherwise. The place is like a Chuck E. Cheese for adults!

On Tues there is a tough 9-ball double-elim but since it starts late and ends late I rarely go or I will suffer through the work day on Wednesdays.

I will go on Friday and Saturday nights and play 9, 10, 14.1 or 1P with select people.
There are certain people I enjoy playing for fun because they will give a good game and try their best, which is great practice. There are others with whom I will gamble cheaply for even more practice.

Sometimes I'll go during the day on Saturday as there is a 10-ball double-elim tourney...but since I enjoy playing at night I will forego that and just play at night.

I don't have a table at home...and probably never will...because playing in a house just does not feel the same.

Sometimes I play in the regional Tiger Tour (http://www.planet-pool.com/) and I may also play in other regional events as time will allow.

So I play maybe twice a week. I would go up there every night (except Mondays) but they usually have Traveling APA on other nights and/or the 14.1 and 8/9-ball leagues, and most of the players are there for those events.

Yeah, I could go find a corner table and practice...but that requires discipline...:)

There are other pool rooms where I live (Top Hat, VIP Billiards, Centennial Karaoke, STAR Billiards and more) but I really enjoy my home room (Big Daddy's Billiards).

This thread motivated me to skip a lecture and play... lol

1 hour of snooker - rattled every other ball out -__-

But on the bright side, when I switched to 9-ball, the pockets looked a foot wide and I beat the ghost 7-3! =)

I play just dammed near every day.

I get up at 4am so I can practice for an hour or two hours before I go to work. Then I may get some time during the day.. another hour or so and maybe another hour in the evening. Bed time is about 9 pm so I can get an early start on the pool game in the morning.

I have coffee and read/post on az from 4:20 to 5 and then from 5:15 or so until 7 I can practice. It's a great way to start the day.

Monday bca 8 ball scratch league
Tuesday scotch doubles one pocket league
Wed 9 foot bca
Thur bar box apa
Fri bar box 9 ball tourney usually over 50 people
Sat 9 foot tables 9 ball tourney
Sun practice all afternoon
Yep, Shooters in Olathe rules.

I'm posting this at the pool hall right now lol....I play pool everyday, but I'm young and single and have half a job lol

I am retired but I work on my house in the woods nearly every day till supper. I have a Gold Crown III. I play at least an hour, sometimes three hours, depends on what else is going on. I start with various drills, then usually 9-Ball until I miss a shot. Whatever shot I miss I work on for 10 - 15 minutes until I get it right with what I think are all the variations.

I used to play in the leagues Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday but got sick of setting around for half the night so I quit and now there are very few people who come over to play.

I just started playing in tournaments -- got whipped in the first one.

Built my house from scratch and do everything. It is kinda like a hobby with 36 acres of woods, old stripper cuts, roads I made myself, etc. When daylight fades I play pool or do whatever the wife has in mind.

I played for a solid 5 hours yesterday with only breaks being when i had to sit down after a loss.

Sh*ts a f*cking mind workout if there ever was one when you play that long at that amount of focus.

king of terre haute?

i know nobody will gamble in terre haute but there is one guy there that would love to do a king of terre haute 9 ball or 10 ball big table or small table....minimum bet 1k and bet as much as you like...lets see where you stand now..
