Thank you for the information. It is always much quicker to ask someone who already knows the answer than having to do hours of research. I know little of billiards although a room I used to manage had a billiard and a snooker table. As i had said earlier, billiards is no longer popular in the Cincy area as it was many years ago. Some Asians used to come in and play some straight rail and every once in awhile there were a couple of good 3-rail players who had their own cues and they were wood pinned. I have no clue what the brand was. I just had always heard that billiard players preferred wood pins, butterfly butts for stiffness and European tapers, also for stiffness. The reason for the questions is that often people have many styles of cues but prefer one over the others. It was brought out that there are a few cue makers in this country who build billiard cues with metal pins but it was not stated what the real aficionados preferred. I know that when I was younger I shot pistol competition and at one time had 55 hand guns made by many companies but for PPC competition I always used just one. Many of the other hand guns cost more but it did what I expected.
