Dirt in my super speeds

After about 4 years the rubber on my GC1V turned dead on the short rail where the back 2 balls hit after the break. And actually I thought the rails were a little dead right from the start. I contacted Pat Sheehan out of Portland and he informed me that Brunswick is having the superspeeds made overseas. Dirt is being used as a filler [to save money I guess] instead of latex. I sent my rails to him to repair and when he tore them down the rubber on my short rail crumbled off in pieces. He installed K55's and I'm reasonably happy with them. I'm curious though if anyone else has run into this problem and and what were the results? Don

Yeah, that's pretty common with rubber that uses fillers. I actually replaced the rubber on several Diamonds in a restaurant in Dayton, Ohio a few years ago. Evidently, Diamond bought a bad run of rubber around '99. The tables were only 6 years old when we got to them and some of the rubber was hard as a rock! It crumbled and broke and parts just turned into dust. Worst I'd ever seen. Glad they didn't use that stuff for long!!!!

Any of the cheap rubbers like everyone else said made from fillers and not pure gum rubber dont last very long plus you add sun light to the equation
and poof dead rubber crumble's like coffe cake. I have seen some look like they melted and ran off the rail like cheese on sandwich.

I wonder how long that pink rubber that mueller sells I have used on some coin opsbeen on for over a year now still plays good no sunlight on it though.

Up here in Sacramento Artemis k66 on Brunswick tables has been on the tables for 8+ years and they get 12+ hrs of solid use on 8-15 tables out of 33 they have everyday, still seem to be okay ah few people think there starting to harding up from al the breaking of racks.

Dirt??? I'd confirm that with Brunswick before I'd take that as the gospel;)

Brunswick rubber

n10spool, What kind of Brunswick tables have k-66 rubber on them? Unless they used the intercontinental Artemis Rubber?
Just wondering if they went through the hassel of changing the rail contours and why.
Thanks, Ron

The GC4's n10spool is referring to, are at the Hard Times in Sacramento, CA. They've been changed to the Artemis K66 Pool cushions by Ernesto. No, the contour of the sub-rail wasn't changed, the cushions were mounted 1/8" lower than the sub-rail cap, or they'd have been to high, then the sub-rail cap was angled down to meet the top profile of the cushions. If the tables were to ever be changed back to K55 profile cushions, which is what the rails were designed to have, someone is going to have to replace the top of the sub-rail cap that was removed in order to remount K55 cushions, or they'll be 1/8" to low to play right;)

Thats correct and they ordered the the end rails not to have counters installed or ordered extra head rails so I have been told. Only the back 8 tables are that way without counters An danother 6-10 tables out front were changed to k66 also the rest are stock Brunswick from the factory. I wasn't living up here when they opened Iwas traveling the U.S.A. for 3 years as a cable installer Manager\trainer for the Major cable companies

Glen, why would someone do this? Why not just put on the correct profile of cushion?........just curious....

Well, we had that discussion in the Ernesto vs Glen thread a while back:D :D :D I didn't buy the lack of K55 availability back then as an answer but oh well, it's not something that I would have chosen to do.
