Disaster Has Struck: All of Genipool14's Videos Have Been Deleted by YouTube

just curious, as far as we know, has there been a specific complaint against this person from producers of the content he uploads?

Blackjack stated he has reported his for some of his content, which is completely reasonable. Based on what Genipool posted on facebook though, his account was suspended due to spamming, not due to the content or copyright infringement.

This does not stop somebody from accessing the stream - recording it - and then uploading it to Youtube and monetizing it.

He might be the pool video Robin Hood, but it doesn't change the fact that what he is doing is wrong.

Also, Lyn, I do not stream content - but I have had some of my videos stolen - straight pool videos and mental game videos - they have been taken and uploaded by others that have monetized them. It is a hassle to go through the process of filing a claim through Youtube.

Some may not think that it is a big deal until they are the one that is getting ripped off. JMO.

The way that ESPN and Matchroom treat their videos of pool though is just like patent trolls in tech that patented some stupid thing, do nothing with it for 20 years then get some lawyers and start suing Apple and Samsung.

They have the videos, do nothing to them, but do not allow anyone else to also. If they had their own YouTube channel, or even a not super pricey stream option on their site or a stream from their TV channels then I can see this as "stolen" content. If they just stick it in their vault and just complain that someone else is showing it, than I am not very much against that happening.

Have a little respect, for your fellow humans who share a deep fondness for a silly game called billiards.

You (and i and he and she) dont get to tell the man how he should feel about seeing his work used without his permission.

You know for a fact he monetized the videos, or just talking out of your ass?

If he posted my product, didn't monetize it I'd have no problem with that, if the product is good I'd be the first one to seek out the original content creator and support him/her and allot more would. You all are still living in the 90's and DVD era.

What's killing pool are not people like genipool that promote the sport to masses, especially the ones that can't afford 20$ streams, which are for most part terrible, unprofessional and many times embarrassing to listen to.

Here's a great post from Reddit from a smart gentleman

Thanks Bob. This would be great for example, if AccuStats, just started uploading all their old content to a YouTube channel and started a monthly fee based membership to get access to the content.

I know the Euro tour also has a site where all content is streamed for members, but I understand that can get costly to store and maintain the large quantity of data.

If YouTube offers that service, that is a huge piece to the puzzle.
I "think" Accu-Stats is moving towards VIMEO On Demand Streaming............
Have you checked out their VIMEO Channel? You can currently watch MIH 8 Ball match for free.

Sounds a little self-serving, as i read it.

You got all that land you arent using. Should a is a 3rd party entitled to use it, coz you arent?

Taylor Swift kept her music off of streaming services while demand for lower-volume, higher-cost physical sales was there. Now that the demand cycle has moved on, her no-longer-new album is available on Spotify. The reason is simple - the amount of high-volume, low-cost money to be made from streaming is larger than the low-volume, high-cost physical sales.

I don't mean to pick on AccuStats, but they have a number of old matches and demand for those matches likely follows similar laws of economics. I have a hard time believing they make more money selling DVDs on the sixth page of their 10-ball site (http://store.accu-stats.com/10-ball/?sort=newest&page=6) than they would if those videos were available for streaming on YouTube. Not to mention those streams would act as advertising for their new products, which could be uploaded after some appropriate length of time has passed. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those DVDs have never sold one copy, ever (but am happy to be proven wrong).

Instructional videos are different as those don't suffer the same kind of decreasing demand cycle as pro tour events.

I also would like to order from Accustats if they had some kind YouTube monthly fee... OR site of their own. Like Kozoom.
Only way how we can watch pool here in Finland is practically Kozoom or Youtube. Or ordering some PPV but it is hard to due time problems etc..

About Genipool14 I think he was doing more good than bad for pool.:frown:
At least I would like to have our sport some way to spectators see it(good quality-that is essential for pool videos to be enjoyable) if they want.

BINGO, Mich did his homework !!!

When this guy started out he was nothing but a big pirate.
After he learned a lesson he talk to Accu-Stats.
An agreement was made for him to show clips with Accu-Stats being the provider !
So for everyone to know. Accu-Stats had nothing to do with this blackout.

Now for the good news.

Here is the sample of VOD.

Accu-Stats is busy making these changes as we speak !!!

:yeah:

Whoa... $300 for a package of Derby City streams. That's steep.

Which is why the on-demand model hasnt worked, to date. The hosts want too much money for the pool content producers, the producers have to fund both the host and themselves...and it isnt rigbt for the content's owner to get less than the host...
And aww...fukkit.

In a nutshell, i believe what prior research into the platform has determined is
Fukkit. The world is flat.

You got all that land you arent using. Should a is a 3rd party entitled to use it, coz you arent?

If I had useless land I'd sell it, tennis court etc.. when I was not using it I would have no issues the neighbors coming by to use it. If I had a car collection worth seeing I'd setup a museum for them instead of hiding them in my garage. When my pool table is not in use, my cousins/uncle/kids their friends know where it is and how to get to it and use it.

I don't steal movies or music because it is available easily from 10 different authorized places, from Pandora to Netflix to stores. If a movie is not out there, I have no issue with tracking down a bootleg VHS of it. If Disney decided that it would be illegal to broadcast or sell the original StarWars movies, well I guess then I'll become a criminal and look for another way to access them. YouTube, torrent, whatever. If the still sold it, I would not. And have not. I have a ton of movies on my computer, but all from DVDs I own or owned. They are on the computer so I can watch them on my tablets and share in the house without having to mess with having a DVD player on everything.

If Matchroom put up their pool and snooker and whatever catalog in a pay service, I'll pay for it. If it was too much, I'll just watch the older matches or what is available.

I wouldn't pay for a stream just as I never would pay to watch a football or baseball game.Football and baseball well almost anything successful are driven by advertising dollars.

Agreed but baseball and football have the luxury to have sponsors and ads.

...

You wonder why theres no money in pool media, because of sites like Youtube giving away videos making money on the ads hand over foot. Thats why theres no money in pool.

Some of the replies were correct you dont have a right to monetize other peoples content, then it's even worse when you just giving it away to youtube. Pool makes no money from it so not sure why people do it. It's not worth the effort to run a youtube channel. It doesn't promote pool or finance pool to make youtube a shitload of money and you a couple bucks for doing who knows how many hours of video work preparation.

Attitudes must change in billiards AS A WHOLE in the THOUSANDS for pool to make a shift to being successful in media for anyone to pay attention to pool on the outside.

A site like mine needs 1,000 members to make a change in pool. Billiardnet.tv charges 9.99 a month for a paid membership subscription to watch 5000 videos anytime. Pro events, Live STREAMS from various producers. You name it. I do everything I possibly can. I profit share with streamers and industry partners I drive thousands of miles to do my work. I promote at an inhuman level for pool, it's attitudes in pool that need to change from the outside. I did a junior pool tournament and partnered with the tour and told everyone I would donate 50% of the money from subscriptions to watch the videos and or support the live stream. I got zero new subscribers although I got thousands of hits on their links.

For me to get multiple servers to pay for the infrastructure to support 20 streamers and 20,000 videos on a private network you need more members. I'm perfectly fine busting my ass using my servers for my own work if nobody else sees the vision thats fine by me.

It may never happen in my lifetime but I am going to bust my ass regardless but I will not beat people over the head with the ideas dis respectfully and treat people like shit.

Youtube could care less about a channel with 60k Subs you have to be in the millions before they even really pay any kind of special attention.

Not sure why this channel was shut down but they do have strict copyright guidelines in place for monetized videos.

They have Kids with 5 million Subscribers getting millions of views per day, pool videos are very low on the youtube Totem pole.

Please

Streaming video is the future.

Hopefully we can show that the viewing numbers are viable for outside the industry to notice.

yes that MUST be the reason why there is no money in pool
