So in playing one hole recently I was thinking about some well...interesting moves.

CueTable Help



I'm well aware that this is an absolutely disgustingly low maneuver. I'm hooked all to hell in one pocket and my opponent needs only one ball to win so what I do is intentionally double clutch resulting in a foul by either scratching or knocking the cueeball off the table.

Is this legal? I'm well aware this is "unsportsmanlike" i'm just curious if this is allowed.

Also, what about intentionally knocking a ball off the table.
 
Why would you think this is poor behavior??? You're trying to win, just like he is. If you can find a way to give yourself another shot, by all means DO IT. I've jumped balls off the table intentionally many times to pull his ball back up. In this case however, he has a 5 ball to just fire into the pocket. I would probably just rake the balls. He won.

If you are dreaming, why don't you go to the rail first and knock the ball into another pocket;) ?

I think the move there would be to take a scratch by rolling CB against another of the clustered balls...

Then he breaks up the cluster and leaves you on the rail. Now you have to run out and then follow his ball into the pocket. I guess it's possible to win this. I'll give you 7 to 1 in this scenario.
 
No, the shot you describe is not allowed. The opponents ball stays down and you lose. It is perfectly legal to jump either the CB or OB off the table, or follow the OB in the pocket, but the intentional push shot part of it is an old school move that is illlegal.

6.2 Any scratch or foul results in the end of the shooter?s inning, as well as a standard one ball penalty. All balls pocketed in the shooter?s pocket as a result of a stroke that includes a foul do not count for the shooting player and are to be immediately spotted, along with the standard one ball penalty. Also, any balls pocketed in the opponent?s pocket on a stroke that ends in either a pocket scratch or with the cue ball off the table are not to be counted for the opponent, and are to be immediately spotted. However, on a stroke when any other foul is committed (such as a push shot, double-hit or illegal ball contact), any balls scored into the opponent?s pocket are to stay down and be counted for the opponent.


I agree with Black-balled about the correct shot in this situation by the way.

Double clutch? Are you saying that you would push the cue ball to position A and then hit it again? I am confused.

I'm not sure what you mean by "double clutch". Intentional fouls are allowed and expected, but I guess I'm really not sure what you're talking about.

"Unsportsmanlike" is not allowed. In fact, it usually loses you the game or the match and might even get you thrown out of a tournament. Not to mention nobody will play with you.

If you double hit the opponents ball stays down and you lose the game.
