I lurked around here for months, just watching what people said, bought, sold, argued over, etc.
This way I was able to find out who were much more likely to be trustworthy and fair. I was also able to find links to any cuemaker who has a website, get their phone numbers and addresses, so I could communicate with the source on prices, authenticity, etc. I was also able to see what is hot, what's not.
Over time I started posting a few things, PMed some people, picked their brains.
Eventually I bought a cue. Went smooth. Bought another, and another, and another. I have spent over $5000 here (and it would be $8,000 if pooltablemagic hadn't sold that ivory pointed Scruggs with the abalone spears), and because I took my time and felt things out (up... lol), I managed to get some very nice deals on some VERY NICE cues, and more importantly, I was able to get EXACTLY what I wanted. There are tons of stunning cues out there, but many of them regardless of the workmanship just are not my cup of tea. There simply isn't anywhere else on the planet that allows you to look at the volume of beatiful custom cues that come through here, as long as you have patience.
Coming out and passive-aggressively bashing the forums is not going to get you anywhere, and of course the advice about WHAT you are selling is all valid. This is the place for stuff you can't get readily anywhere else. Relax, take it in, and enjoy this place for what it is. If you do that you will be happy that you did.
