Do OB plus shafts hit like solid maple shafts?

Do OB plus shafts hit like solid maple shafts or do they have the dead hollow hit like predators? If they hit more solid how is the deflection compared to a 314-2?

Tried my friend's ob shaft with the short white ferule, not sure which model , deflection is really low but i find it hits towards the soft side and lacks power but doesnt feel hollow

If you want a solid hit, you can try mezz shaft like the wx700 which hits like a 314 but doesnt have the hollow feel and the hybrid pro 2 with a even stiffer hit with even lower deflection.
havent try the wx900.
wx700 hits really solid as it is not laminated, a one piece solid maple shaft whereas hybrid pro 2 have a carbon core so it hits really stiff but w good feedback

Just my 2 cents, good luck with ur choice :)

When I changedf from Predator, ( Worst Warranty on Cue Shafts) to the OB-1, I noticed the OB gave me more English . There is going to be a learning curb involved. I didn't noticed any less or more deflection. If that's any help to you?
Every once in a while when I'm forced to back up the cue ball a and it's around 5 feet from object ball, I notice my cue feeling like hitting soft butter? I then know that the cue ball will be backing up for my next shot. I'm not a big fan of using much English.
Someone please explain what I'm not feeling?

To me the felt closer to a regular shaft than predator. And IMO the classic plus squirts the cb less than the 314-2. I use the cb on the spot, ob frozen in front of the second diamond test. Aim center to center then move over parallel to maximum sidespin, and see which shaft gets a fuller hit. The fuller the hit, the less the cb squirted.

That said, I couldnt get use to mine, and am debating on what to do with them.

The OB 1 and 2 Plus hit more like a Predator. They are designed to have a quieter, softer hit (which some prefer). The Classic and Pro Plus are designed to hit more like a solid maple shaft. The tradeoff is they have slightly more deflection (squirt).

I think the Classic and Pro hit BETTER than many solid maple shafts. However, there are some really good custom makers whose solid shafts hit better, and they can make them just as low squirt.

The OB-1+ and OB-2+ both have a very soft quiet hit. This is due to a combination of the front end having foam inside, the rest of the shaft having silicone rubber and also the soft laminated maple ferrule on both of these shafts.

The OB Classic+ and OB Pro+ both have a firmer crisper hit. This is due to the fact that although there is foam in the front end, the rest of the shaft is solid maple. Both of these shafts also have linen melamine ferrules which are stiffer than the softer maple ferrules on the OB-1+ and OB-2+.

There is a very big difference in the hit and sound of the wooden ferrule shafts versus the hit and sound of the white ferrules shafts. As far as which shafts hit more like solid maple shafts, the Classic+ and Pro+ shafts are the closest we have to conventional solid maple shafts (when it comes to feel and sound).

You are very welcome. Yes, we will be in Vegas for the next month for the BCAPL, the Trade Show and the APA. We will be setting up and selling and will have demos on hand for you to try before you buy.

You can see our booth location for the BCAPL event at the Rio here: http://www.obcues.com/pages/Events.html

"Do OB plus shafts hit like solid maple shafts?"

Hahaha......no they don't......faaaar from it.

None of the LD's do.

If you're looking for a solid hit, of the two you mentioned I actually find the Predators to have a much more solid a hit vs. OB.
Assuming you are comparing the relative shafts.

Really, you play with a cue based on how it "sounds". Who gives a crap. Make the ball, it goes in the hole. With a maple or LD shaft, quiet or loud, the ball is still going in, right? Meanwhile, there is a list a mile long of guys that use LD shafts that would smoke you every day and twice on Sunday. I wonder why that is exactly ?

I have Both Predator and OB classic, and both play far better for me then most solid maple shafts. They are similar in feel but I like the OB much better. The design, the hit and the company are all superior with the OB.

No and no. They do not hit like a solid maple shaft, but they are much closer to that than Perdator. I find the feel to be better than Predator overall. The OB plus and OB Pro plus are about equivalent to a 314-2. I think the OB Classic plus might have a hair more, and the OB plus might have a hair less. However, the entire plus line are very nice and hit solid. I like the feel of the hit better in the classic and pro plus.
