worked with a guy that had a photographic memory, could look at a technical manual, put it away, ask him a question a week later, he would recite what was printed, give you the line , paragraph and page number ,,,Or recall a conversation word for word, really something to see....He said it was a curse, he wished he could forget some things, Sad thing was he blew his brains out in the shower, no one knows why.
I don't see why you want the exact position of the balls.. If you get in the general area and keep practicing the shot, then moving the balls in different directions but in the same area and keep practicing those shots over and over again... it couldn't hurt could it?

Set the shot up as best as you can remember. Use the hole re-enforcers that they use on paper in binders. I call them donuts. That way you can practice the exact same shot until it is drilled into your subconscious.
That was going to be my next question . as long as Im in the general area and angle it shouldn't matter.
I write it down. I'm a pen and paper guy, I take notes and make lists for all sorts of things. So I like to carry notebooks with me.
Started using Field Notes memo books recently and started making these leather covers for them. Inside I have three Field Notes books, one for long term notes, one for work notes, and one for short term notes. I've been putting pool notes in my long term notes book where I have notes from lessons and just things I've learned or need to work on.
Whenever I go to play I grab a pen and this notebook and set it on the table so anytime something comes up I can make notes, draw a sketch of a shot, etc.
I've sold a few of these covers and have thought about trying to make pool specific setups by having a pool table diagram rubber stamp made, just haven't done it yet.

You must be taking the picture before you shoot anticipating that you will miss.
After missing the shot you will not be able to take a picture unless you set it up after the game.
I can still read some of my college text books. I graduated in 1975. I did not keep any of those books.
That's a misnomer...
Everyone has a photographic memory, what differs is the percentage of retention. What you are referring to is an eidetic memory...

Actually, everyone has a very good memory with strong enough recall cues. Science has yet to find anyone with a true photographic memory.
While some folks can recite an entire book back word for word, if they were asked to go to page 172 and read the sixth line down, they cannot. In other words, they are not memorizing a visual image.
Sorry for the nerd stuff...this explains why my pool game is so bad.
When I played for money almost every day, the shots I missed were the only ones I would practice the next morning. Shoot a troublesome shot 100 times and it will be almost automatic. Of course if you're missing so many shots you can't remember all of them you need to write them down, think about NOT playing for money until you only miss a few. Johnnyt
When I was a teenager I missed a spot shot, on the hill, on the money ball. It was a 20 dollar ring game. So instead of winning 60, I lost 20. 80 bucks was a lot of money to a teenager in the 80s.
The next day I shot a few hundred spot shots. To this day, I'm a very good spot shot shooter.

I think the type of games that had spot shots would now, on todays tight pockets, would be very good for the game. I haven't shot one in awhile either. Johnnyt
