Do you have a problem with playing against members of the opposite sex

Caution

Caution. Reading the remainder will impact the socialization at your match.

If you have problems with a female opponent, just imaging them with balls.
Corrects the problem every time.

Playing against Men in Drag is a Drag

Just wondering if your a guy playing against a women or a women playing against a guy. Do you feel that you play at your best or do you have a tendency to not play as strong as you think that you should just because your playing a member of the opposite sex ?
If so, do you think it's cost you matches, tournaments etc. ?
Anybody got any stories?

Playing against women is fine, but at our old pool room, there were a couple of transvestites that played in local tournaments. There was one who was a pretty good player.

I couldn't even look at the guy with his manly legs, stubbly beard, red dress, cheap wig, falsies, rouge and heels. He looked like a pipe fitter in drag.

If I didn't choke, surely I would gag.

Ok, that's a whole differnet story. MESSED UP!!!!!
I'm sure this would throw anybodys game off.

women and pool

When I was younger it may have been an issue, but nowadays I play against the table. I don't care who I'm playing against, it's just me vs. the table when it's my turn.
Chris won't say it, but I will. He's married to a mean, vicious, jealous woman and if he looked at a female while he was playing, his pool career would be over.:D

No problems playing women at all. The way I look at it, is if they signed up for the tournament/league then they have to know how to play.
I do tend to play with less speed when I'm playing a woman in a more casual enviroment and actually try to stay out of that situation because dogging shots is something that doesn't sit right with me.

I'd rather play females ALL THE TIME.....

I mean, if I'm gonna be sitting in my chair most of the time anyway, might as well enjoy the view! Oh, and they always smell better too ;) :D

to be honest i only play women in tournaments. i play against them the same way i play against everyone. that is with the exception of a couple. most of the chicks that play in our local bar tournaments are as likely to break and run out as anyone else. i'd say the only difference is their end game play

When I started playing pool at fifteen one of the few places I could play was the local naked dancing lady bar. It was also the closest place to me. A mile and a half from where I lived, a few hundred yards from where I worked. I was in there most nights. The best pool player I knew for the first few years was also the hottest dancer in the place when she worked there. She was close to shortstop speed without distractions; she had a lot of "distractions". When you can fade all of that at fifteen or sixteen playing females just never seems like a big deal.

Hu

Man alive, that kind of experience at that young age can harden you up quickly!

I never shot pool when anybody naked was near by. No sir, can't say I ever did that. But, I have shot pool with many women over the last 40 years and I usually take it easy so they can make some shots and want to keep playing. The only time I ever drilled a woman on a pool table (no pun intended) was once when some hotshot woman was playing anyone who wanted to gamble with her for some cheap $10.00 per game 9B. She had a cheering section of wanna-be tough guys who were egging on guys to play her, so I gave it my best and pretended I was playing Fong Pang Chao, loser goes to the electric chair! I got lucky (:)) and whupped her and then asked the wanna-be's if they had any desire to play some, "or was the girl better than you guys?" :D No takers, some mumbles is all. Lots of hands stuffed in their pockets ambling' about looking at each other.

My story can't compete with yours Hu cause my opponant and the railbirds all had clothes on. I must admit however, that after beating her, I did go home feeling somewhat cocky that night!

Alas, that was years ago. And 99 times out of 100, I just play at home now. I do plan on entering some senior events sometime next year. Maybe I'll get to play a senior woman w/ an AARP card! If I do, well, I'll show her who's boss! :D Or sure as heck be trying to! :D

I've never shot against a woman because I can't fit a pool table in the kitchen.

Well, if she's hot, I'm not going to try and consciously block any sexual thoughts that might come up. It just isn't right. Of course, I'll behave like a perfect gentleman...they won't know what I think...;)
There was one girl I played from time to time at tournaments, she had (still has) most wonderful ass I've ever seen. To be honest with you, every time she leaned over the table, I thought popped in about that ass and how nice it would be to do this or that. But I wasn't worried about it and no, I didn't feel guilty because I think it is natural to have thoughts like that. It didn't prevent me from playing well. Somehow I felt extra motivated to show lovely girls that I could play a little and this actually resulted in increased level of concentration.
I wouldn't have a problem losing to girls. Some of them do play almost men pro speed and that's really hard to play against...a good player is a good player.

I've played some of the best women players in the world. Kelly Fisher, Karen Coor, and Julie Kelly just to name a few of them.

They all play great.

On a more local scene, I play Liz Taylor frequently. Again she is a great talent.

These ladies are all favored to beat many of the male players out there. The women are all getting better and there are more of them out there than ever before.

I don't see any shame in losing to a woman. They are quite capable when it comes to shooting balls into pockets.

It's a perfect opportunity for a male player to focus on playing the game instead of their opponent.

I went to my league match early one day, as I usually do, for some practice. I met a girl there and we hit it off pretty good. She was a good shot and we played for over an hour. We were making plans to meet up later that night for some drinks and it looked like we were gonna take it further. What I didn't realize at the time was that she was on the opposing team I was to play that night. As you might have guessed, I ended up playing her in my match. I beat her 3-0. She got mad at me and left the bar and never talked to me again after that. I was left feeling like "what did she expect"?
I'm not gonna lay down just to be nice.
Anyway's that was that and if I ever play her again, I'll be trying to win again just like before.

Well, I tend to feel worse about beating a woman than beating a man. I don't know why, I guess we're just taught that defeating a woman at something is ungentlemanly conduct.

The other night I played 8ball league against a chick. She was rated the same speed as me (SL5). Not only that but she was about 6ft tall, slim, and no older than 25. Pretty hot, one could say. This did somehow distract me a bit the first couple of frames, but after that I got my act together and started playing the table. The match wound up with me as relatively comfortable victor.
