Well I have noticed that within the last few weeks my game has launched off onto another platform, but I can't decide if it is because I am stressed out about personal matters or not.

I use pool as my sancuary away from the daily grime of things, and for the most part when I am playing all other thoughts in my brain dissapear. The only thing in my mind is playing the game itself.

Do any of you all experience that?

Another thing that is racking my brain is why do I play so good when my world is free of stress totally? I broke up with my girl last year, and I wasn't stressing about anything, therefore I played lights out pool. Or was it because I was stressed about her and I making things work out? I guess I will never know the answer to that one.

MMMMMMMMMMM the questions of life right?

Right now I am playing much more pool to keep my mind busy from other things. Not sure if it is "stress" but when I play I am not stressed at all. I am relaxed.

Outside stressors such as job or life stress in general tend to have a slight negative impact on my game which results in me yelling at the pool gods for all the "bad rolls" I'm getting. You know, DCP style of play. However, if it's tournament or pool room-situation stress, then I tend to play better as my mind focuses more on the task at hand and I develop a much more clear head for some reason.

To me, stress = distraction. I never play 100% until my eyes have adjusted to the low light and my thoughts are on the pretty colored balls.

I can't focus if I'm all keyed up with other problems. This is why I think people with ADD have a hard time with pool, regardless of their physical skills.

I watch American Idol. Stress doesn't seem to be a factor for me. Getting enough sleep on the other hand is very important.

Well I have been knocking out pretty hard over the last three weeks because I have been taking Hydroxicut Hardcore. Gives me loads of energy during the day, but I crash hard at night!

What's Hydroxicut Hardcore?

It is Hydroxicut's new version of their so called diet pill.

They got their start by being a diet pill for body builders. It burns fat while letting you keep all your lean muscle mass.

When people realized that it worked, they started taking it as a diet pill instead of for body building.

Then the whole effedra (spelling) scare made them have to take it out of their product.

So Hydroxicut Hardcore is their newest version, and supposedly has no side effects. A buddy of mine lost 30lbs in 6 weeks!

A girl at GNC lost 56lbs in 6 weeks!

Another girl I know lost 76lbs in 4 months!

So I figured what the heck, I wanted to loose a few pounds anyway so I am trying it out. After week 3 I have lost a total of 13lbs and I haven't done anything different in my daily life. Now imagine if I would get off my butt and work out!

Man...I am going to this a try.

Back to the subject. I am a pretty "low key" type guy. Never too many highs or too many lows. I don't remember the last time I was stressed out over something more than a minute. I do know that I play very well under pressure. If I get a crowd of people watching my match, I shoot much better.

got them all beat

I've got them all beat. I lost 117 pounds in two days on the Wild Turkey diet.

Thank God and Greyhound she's gone!

LOL Hu, that is funny! I guess you can say I lost 119 pounds on the Jack Daniels diet but that was my mistake, she was a good girl. :(

Do you notice if the change of your game started after you started taking the Hydroxicut or was the change there before that? Reason I ask, is I used to take it 10 years ago when I was into lifting but still playing pool and the combination of that and other supplements I took would give me gitters, increased blood pressure and a sense of nervousness. This was fine for me and my daily routine, but when it came to being relaxed for playing pool, I could never "relax" my body enough to play strong. I knew this and for the time being, working out was more important then pool. After I got off the supplements, I soon found my body and stroke was back to being relaxed and normal. Food for thought.

And to answer your question, I have disciplined myself when I walk in a pool hall, there is no talk or discussion about stressful, typical world events or drama. It took a long time to make this happen, but feels great when inside and shooting. At a bar, it's a different story. I think I let the drinking damper the stress and everything going on. Pool halls, no drinking, no work, no drama of outside world allowed. Pool hall to me can be a santuary or a nightmare. :P

Well You were probably taking the original Hydroxycut and it would make you jittery!

This stuff hasn't made me jittery at all. It wakes me up that is for sure, but it doesn't make me jittery.

I normally take it about 7am and 5pm and the earliest I play pool is about 7pm. And I doubt that the hydroxycut would calm me down! It has too much caffine to calm me down. LOL

My game was on before the Hydroxycut, but for some reason with all the stress of my daily life I think I am trying harder than ever to focus on my game during league night. In other words I think I am trying harder to focus and forget the work week. So therefore I think it is the added attempt at focus that is improving my game. I could be wrong though!

Yeah, you were taking temporarily-legal crank (ephedra). It'll do that. Terrible for your heart, nerves, and brain, but great for your metabolism!

But back on topic, when I'm stressed out because of whatever's going on in my life, it puts me on a much shorter fuse than usual, and I reach my frustration point very quickly. This is not at all beneficial for my pool game. Generally when really stressed out, I'll either have one of those magic nights where I hit the zone and stay there (very rare), or I'll miss a couple shots because I didn't focus, and not make a ball the rest of the night because I get so frustrated I can't see straight.

Those numbers are bad. Yes, bad.

I've been in the nutrition business for 26 years and have seen every weight loss idea out there....and all of them fail when the losses occur at such a fast rate. Yo yo ends up being the horrible way of life for these sad souls.

Losing weight is a process, not an event...IF one wants to keep it off for life.

The most anyone should ever lose is about 1/2 pound per week...and even that cannot be maintained for long before the body gets wise to it and readjust itself.

My bathroom scale stopped cold, fwiw,

You guys are correct, it was the now illegal version of the drug/supplement. I stocked up a few bottles before it became really hard to find. But I haven't had the new version. Good to hear it doesn't cause the jitters and racing heart. As for your stress, this is one good way to learn about it and gather info from others on the topic of pool and stress. Great bunch of folks here and give you credit for seeking the suggestions!

Wow, stress must not be a factor for you. American Idol would send me to anger management classes from all of the stress!

I'm pretty much the same way.

When stress is building up outside the pool hall, all I can think of is doing planning on what needs to get done to correct what ills me.

I don't know anyone that does any thing better with stress than without.

With regards to pool playing, I certainly play better when I have to than when I do not. Pressure and competition makes me try harder.
