To put it in perspective, that question is like asking a baseball player if they should use a leather glove, or a plastic kids glove. Serious pool players do not consider screw on tips a real viable option. A more appropriate questions would be which type of glue on tip do people prefer. That would, however, boil down to personal preference.

I would then remove the screw on tip, and put a glue on tip on top.
I like the cavity at the end of the ferrule for the screw to go in--it allows for lesser deflection.
More than 60% of the pros in the world like this kind of set up, so it can't be wrong.
I have heard that some "notable players" also like a wood ferrule, they think it gives them better "feel."
So, I will just remove the plastic ferrule, and leave the wood underneath.
This is my secret to the greatest hitting shaft, please do not tell anyone.

seb9 said:Fair enough but i was not aware until this thread that there was no screw on tips of high quality, i never seen one in real life, only on photo's
I was not aware that people considered screw on tips to be a fisher price type of cue rip and to be honest i only found out about the existence of screw on tips in the last few days.
Regardless of the way you guys ridiculed me, i have learned a few things.
seb9 said:Are you being serious or ridiculing?
If you are being serious, thanks for the info.

Assuming u mean tip (can't be to careful here) then yes sir...you have gained new knowledge. Not one serious, half way not worth heck, but wants to get better kinda player plays with screw on tip.It just doesn't happen.I was not aware that people considered screw on tips to be a fisher price type of cue rip
seb9 said:I was looking for cue's on google and then i found the image i posted in this very thread and i was taken by surprise that there was other ways to put a tip on a cue then glue so then i made a thread to gain awareness from the experiences of people so that i can learn about the subject and others learns about it as well.
Now i ask, why does that dictate ridiculing and making me look like i am a troll?
To be honest, i just don't see what i did that was so outrageous that made you guys respond this way.

seb9 said:But one guy said there used to be a good screw on tip.
So, maybe instead of just thinking i know it all i would actually discuss the matter of variety of tips because i clearly don't know all the possible ways people use tips on their cues and to be honest i don't think anyone here knows 100% of everything that exists about this subject...

Rod said:Yes, Palmer did make a screw on ferrule. The ferrule may not have matched the shaft exactly but it was pretty close for the time. The kmart specials today are not near as good. Neither are good but----
