Do you sometimes wish that the pool matches you watch did not have any commentary?

Sometimes I really enjoy hearing the commentary (if it is good, or interesting, in my opinion), but other times, I wish that I did not have to hear it.

I understand, you are going to tell me to just mute my audio.

The thing is, that I like audio in the pool matches (I like hearing the music playing, or maybe comments that the players make between shots, though that is very rare).

I just do not like hearing the commentary at times.

I remember back in the 90's, the commentary was very educational, because it was always from a major top pro (like Mike Sigel for example, and others), who knew what the player was going to shoot at, and what options they had.

I miss really great commentary like that (interesting, and educational).

The only commentator that I can think of that I really do enjoy hearing is, Danny DiLiberto (he is always very interesting to listen to, in my opinion).

There are others that are okay, but some, I would rather not have to listen to, and would much rather just watch the pool match with just the regular noises from the pool room.

Chris Melling, Jeremy Jones, and Earl are great commentators

i really enjoy the commentary when it is good
Billy Incardona is my favorite

i doubt I would watch without commentary

I just love his stories. I love hearing about road stories. Sorry, I am not sure if I have seen any matches where those guys were commentating. I am sure you are right. I only know what Earl sounds like, and can't remember seeing any matches with him in the commentator's booth.

Danny has great stories, but him and billy in the booth amd Im turning it off. Earl is as good a commentator as he is/was a player

I like the old Florida Pro Tour videos that you could get with the natural sounds of the pool room. Given the option I always opt for the former...and sometimes mute out live streaming commentary depending on my mood.

Here's an example:

They also edit out some of the dead spots in the action like guys racking or chalking "forever" :)

I agree, hearing the balls hit the pocket on goldcrowns is very satisfying! And since we are all experts on AZ, we know exactly what the player is gonna do anyway :)

I love watching pool on youtube but without any commentary I get bored quickly

talkin' about great commentary -- I don't hear Alvin Nelson that much these days anymore. Is he not going 'LIIIIVE across the galaxy through space and time' anymore?

Overheard on live stream;

"Watch folks, Jayson Shore is going to drawer the ball on this shot."
"Will you get a load of the headlights on that waitress?"
"He's going to play this in the corner because it's hanging there."
"I know I'm the commentator, but I have no idea what the score is."
"Folks, he's a real killer, but lets not talk about his criminal past."
"Action match last night. He gave Klondike Kevin the 6 ball and beat him."
"Friends, you have to get the latest DVD of amazing break shots in 9 ball. Simply amazing."
"Dennis is simply the best in the world. The best I tell ya. The best I tell ya. The best I tell ya. Simple the best. Simply the best."
"He's going to hit high on the cue ball to follow down to the other end because the 3 ball is down there."
"He's still a little nervous. He let Alex drive his car on the way here and he said it was a white knuckle ride the whole way. Alex just got his learner's permit again."
"Notice what he did with the rock. He moved the rock over to the rail. Next he will spin the rock up table. The rock will stop by the corner. He has control over the rock." (Maybe your head is a rock.)

Scott Frost and Earl are commentators I like. Billy is # 1 for good reason. I mute half of all matches. I think Efren would be a treasure in the booth.

Priceless!!! That f'in moron with the boston accent gets me to turn it off every time, along with that dummy Alvin that somebody just mentioned. I love me some Danny D in the poolroom, bit for the love of god keep him off the mic, unless you wanna hear the wrong shot called EVERY TIME!!!

In all honesty, Melling might be the best of all time, and I didnt even wanna like the guy.

I like what i call the "Brit-hush" style. You watch BBC anything(golf, snooker, F1, darts) and the commentators generally try to let the game speak for itself. I don't need or want a non-stop stream of comments/tips/takes by the talking heads in the booth. I'll also add that while i like a mike'd table i can't stand all the background clatter you often get.
